Hi rosey-posey
Thank you for your post.
It’s understandable that you feel anxious about ongoing monitoring after having treatment for breast cancer.
How you’re followed up after treatment finishes depends on your individual needs, such as how likely you are to have side effects from treatment and the risk of the cancer coming back (recurrence).
It also depends on the arrangement at the hospital where you’ve been treated.
Although you may not be given regular follow-up clinic appointment after treatment, you should be given information and support to help you manage your health and be able to contact your treatment team if you have any concerns or symptoms that need to be checked.
It’s important for you to know who to contact, how best to do this and the types of concerns or symptoms to report.
As you’ve had a mastectomy, you’ll usually be offered regular mammograms to the other breast for at least 5 years.
It may be helpful for you to contact your breast nurse to discuss how your follow up support will work best for you as well as discussing with your consultant after finishing the zoledronic acid infusions.
