Hi eveyone
I’m new here, so hope you will bear with me until I tell you my history. 4 years ago when I turned 50 I was called up for a mammo more or less straight away and wasn’t too worried when I was called back to repeat this (as friends had said it’s very common and used the term calcifications) however it turned out I had a dcis so I had the lumpectomy followed by radiotherapy and yearly mamograms and appointments with oncologist, 2 years ago I was called back to repeat the mammo again as there was areas of shadowing, but this turned out to be where the radiologist had not compressed it enough…phewww anyhow, I had my mammo for this year about 6 weeks ago and then I had to go overseas to attend to my sick mother who has since passed away, but in between this time I was requested to return for another mammo plus ultrasound as again there was some shadowing, so seeing as this had happend before I was not too concerned, (but maybe a little as I never had an ultrasoundpreviously) so you can imagine my disbelief when I was told there is something there in the middle of my good breast and when they done the FNA it was blood stained
and was told because of this it has to be sent away.
This happend last Thursday 25 May and the next day an appoinment to see the oncologist arrived to see in in 2 weeks time. As you can imagine I am concerned, I phoned the breast care nurse and told her my worries, she said there were several reasons why blood can be present in the sample - trauma, burst blood vessel etc, she said my case might be discussed at the next MDT meeting on Wednesday and should phone again on that day, but probably no gaurantee they will tell me anything !!! but I can’t help wondering if it’s more sinister and is in fact cancer.
Can anyone on here tell me there stories of having FNA and the results.
Thanks in advance
