finger nails dropping off

hi everyone,

after 6 tax i have lost one finger nail, half of another one, and have 2 others making the squelching noise which indicates fluid under them so they will probably fall off too. the rest are really dark, and a bit sore,

anyone elses nails dropped off and how long did they take to come off?

absolutely revoltingly weird,

love to hear any one elses experience of this

love liz xxx

Ive lost 3 finger nails so far 4 weeks post chemo finishing. Looking under my nails l can see another nail growing under one so it looks like that one is going to go as well. Got 2 a bit black but I have not had any infection in any touch wood.

My 2 big toes are very sore just now so I might loose them Hopefully not. its not very nice looking at them but hopefully they won’t take long to grow back.

Hello

I am nearly 2 years post-diagnosis and about 14 months post chemo. My finger nails deteriorated badly but stayed. I lost all my toe nails though. There was a little soft nail underneath and they grew back completely in about 6 months and so strong I need to hands to weild the nail clippers! xxx

Hi Liz. Sorry to say it took a long time for the nails to drop off. I’m about 8 weeks post last chemo and have lost 5 nails and 5 more are loose. Have also lost 2 toenails and one more loose. Some of mine also did the squelchy thing and I had to keep bathing them in salt water and keeping them dressed. I did find tho that if I trimmed the nails back a bit they dried out. Also if I left the other nails to come off naturally the skin underneath was less sensitive and about 1/3 to 1/2 a new nail was underneath. Hope this helps.
