Fingers Hurting after chemo

Hi All,

I have finally finished chemo and had 3 epi, 3 tax and 3 cmf . Thankfully nothing was delayed however ever since i finished the tax my fore finger on my left hand has been hurting - my grip is both hand is a lot weaker but my left hand is the worst. It almost like an autharitus pain - not that i’ve ever had it.

After the tax i mentioned it to the onc and they said thats what tax does to you it damages healthy tissue. I had my last tax 16 weeks ago but my finger is still really hurting - sometimes i think what IF its bone bets but would it really just go into the one finger?

Can anyone give me some reassurance out there as i am getting worried now - even taking the duvet off the bed hurts my finger it doesn;t help as i’m left handed and it was the left side that was effected.

Thanks
Sukes

Hi Sukes,
Just to let you know that I had 8 tax and had numbness in my fingers too. My grip still isnt great - 9 months later - and I still get twinges from the tax.
I have bone mets but I don’t get any symptoms from them. It sounds more like nerve damage than mets. I would get it checked out if you are worried tho.

Hi Sukes,
I am getting Taxol and Avastin. Have had 11 Taxol and 6 Avastin. My toes started getting numb and tingly sore pretty early on, but the fingertips only started about 4 weeks ago.
It is a very upsetting side effect for me, especially as I am a jewelry designer and polymer clay artist, so when I am feeling well enough to create, I am hindered by pain and lack of sensitivity in my fingers.

I have had a little break (almost 3 weeks) from the chemo, and the feeling in my fingers has improved slightly. So hopefully it is not permanent.

Although it is probably not a secondary in your finger, you must always tell your doctors about any problems.

Wishing you the best,
Penny
