Had the last of my 8 chemo’s (4 FEC and 4 Taxotere) last Thursday 1st Nov. The side effects from it are about to kick in, my legs are struggling to get me upstairs, the cacky mouth is here, my nails are sore and strange looking…all the usual stuff…but Hey! It’s for last time (I hope)!
I’m so glad to get this part over…already had mastectomy and full axilliary clearance, next the rads then Herceptin for 12 months (more rotten needles) and Arimidex for 5 years. It still seems a long way to go!
Good luck to everyone still going through chemo or about to start it…I didn’t think I would get through it…but I HAVE and you will too. It hasn’t been pleasant, but I have had good days when I’ve managed to have lunch with friends and enjoy a laugh!
When I left the chemo unit my oncologist actually put an arm around my shoulder and said he was proud of me! I felt proud with MYSELF. And you will too!
And thanks to everyone on this site who has seen me through thus far!
Congratulations and Good luck with the rest of your treatment , threads like this one really help us who are at the start of chemo. You should be very proud of yourself.
Thanks again everyone for your good wishes. I’m suffering from the side effects of the last Tax at the moment…I’m sure the tiredness is cumulative as it seems to have got worse each time…talk about leaden legs!! I only hope that this poor old body of mine will recover.
I mentioned before on another thread, that my hair started to come back on Taxotere, and I have quite a fuzz now…a bit piebald (mousey and grey), but at least it’s HAIR!! A friend called it “virgin hair”…I tell you what girls, it’s going to lose its virginity as soon as possible! LOL!
Congratulations to all the other ladies who have finished their chemo, and loads of hugs and encouragement to those of you just starting out, or in the middle of it. It will be your turn soon.
