Feeling nervous this morning & aprehensive so hence my post; due to have first annual mammo tomorrow morning.
I’m thankful I’ve managed to arrange it in the screening clinic as I have an appointment after to discuss results. In my area you can go to 2 hospitals but the other 1 carries out your mammo in general X-ray & you normally have to wait for the results which can take a minimum of 2 weeks.
I’m hopeful if all OK that next year I’ll be fine at either hospital but who knows. I do have a swelling under my arm which both GP & registrar have said nothing to worry about; a bit of fluid build up but I just can’t help worrying over it. I’ll mention it tomorrow but not sure they will be able to do anything.
Did anyone have any pain when having mammo after treatment? I’ve had 2 WLE & 3 weeks rads. Still a bit of occasional nerve pain.
Here’s hoping all’s well tomorrow.
Take care Lynne
I have some time to go before my first mammo but completely understand your nervousness. I think it’s because with me the bc was found with the mammo and like many others totally unexpected! I feel now you have actually been diagnosed nothing is the same, I very much hide my worries and fears because you don’t want to keep talking about bc all the time to family etc, you don’t want to worry them. Someone else said cancer is a lonely disease and I know exactly where they are coming from. That is why this forum is excellent and puts your mind at rest. There will be lots of others along to support you, very best of luck for you tomorrow, will be thinking of you, hugs xx
Good luck Lynne! I hope your appointment is entirely boring and uneventful!
It is good that you will be able to discuss the results immediately, although of course I hope there is nothing to discuss! At least you will be spared the dreaded wait. I haven’t had mine yet (due next month) so can’t comment on whether it may hurt, although I’m sure some other peeps may be able to advise you. I would imagine it may be a little uncomfortable but hopefully it won’t be too bad.
Hi Lynne!
I also found my first year mammo very nervewracking - I dwelt on every ache and pain for weeks beforehand. It came back clear. I also had 2 WLE and residual pain from rads, but the mammo wasn’t painful, just to put your mind at rest.
