First Chemo

Hi Tina I had my 1st chemo last week and like you was worried about the cold cap. I must say it was not as bad as I expected. I did take 2 paracetamol 1 hour before. I got a bad pain in the centre of my forehead for a few minutes with the 1st cap but that was all. It was extremely cold and I drank warm drinks throughout. I think I was probably colder afterwards when it had been removed. A bit like childbirth 1st time never again then hey presto!!! Good luck keep in touch. Lala x

Like the childbirth bit! Can vividly remember saying never again after the first time and had three in the end! I think fear of the unknown is the worst bit but now I am coming to terms with the fact that it is and needs to happen I am preparing and getting on with it. We all want to be here for our kids for a long time to come. Will see Oncologist on the 25th and then we will see the treatment details. xxxxTina

Hi Tina

I got to try it before the first chemo session - you could ask to try it when you see the onco on the 25th
Lynn

That’s a good idea, Lynn. As the chemo nurse is going to be in on the appointment I suppose I would be well advised to have a list of question ready, incl cold cap. What did they say to you in respect of bone loss, did they offer a bone density baseline x-ray?

Hi Tina

Not a squeak! What you thinking?

I am so dense that I can think of all of these things before I go and when I am sat in front of the docs, I get white coat syndrome. But I suppose a lot of these things can be offered but are not routinely done I assume. How is your mouth?
