First chemotherapy…plz any advise

Hi hasnae87

Thanks for posting.

It can be hard to know what to think or where to turn after a diagnosis of breast cancer especially at a younger age. And you explain having a child. It’s good to see you have already had some support on the forums.

Firstly you may want to call our helpline to talk all this through. We often find we can help people more by speaking to them on the phone. Our helpline team have time to listen, talk things through and signpost you to more support and information if necessary. Your call will be confidential, and the number is free from UK landlines and all mobile networks. The number is 0808 800 6000.

If you have hearing or speech difficulties prefix our number with 18001 and the call will go through Relay UK. Our helpline has access to telephone interpreters if language translation is required.

Many women have chemotherapy before surgery. It might help to contact your breast care nurse and talk through your treatment plan in more detail, so you know what has been decided and why. The treatment will have been agreed by the multidisciplinary team

We offer a range of support services this includes the Someone Like Me service that @k_123 mentions and the HER positive section of the forum suggested by @mrsjelly, @fimac1 and @sooz1.

As @Jill1998 and @pumpkin2 say the chemotherapy monthly threads can be also be very helpful.

We offer also support tailored specifically for younger women with primary breast cancer who are aged between 20-45 years. This includes our Younger Women Together events that are run face to face and online. This support offers the opportunity to meet and share experiences with other younger women and get expert information in a confidential space. More information can be found on the links above.

If you would prefer one of our nurses to call you. To do this please complete this form ticking the box agreeing to a call back.

As mentioned, do give us a call. Our usual opening hours are Monday to Friday 9am - 4pm and 9am -1pm on Saturday.

Out of hours you can leave a message and we will call you back when we next open.

Best wishes

Jane
