Hi I’m completely new to all this! I’ve got my first mammogram at a one stop clinic this Wednesday after finding a large lump 2 weeks ago. I’ve told a friend and my boss but not my family until I know what I’m dealing with. Does anyone know roughly how long between the first appointment and treatment starting? X

Mostly any breast changes turn out to be nothing serious, so, hopefully you will get the all clear on the day, with no further treatment needed.
If its not clear what it is, a biopsy maybe needed, then there is another week or 2 for the results.
In the unlikely event it is bc, then things tend to move forward quite quickly, but hopefully it wont come to that.

You could be right - I don’t think I’ll sleep much on Tuesday night. I just feel so guilty taking time off - both my parents and my daughter have been ill recently with a variety of issues and caused me to take time off for Dr or hospital visits. It never rains but it pours as they say

Joe, just want to say good luck on wednesday .i had mine thursday just gone , id say if you don’t have to go to work after then i wouldn’t, im so glad i had the day off as i had biopsy as well which i wasn’t expecting , though i have flu as well so maybe that didnt help how i felt , but the biopsy threw me abit tbh …wish you all the best maria

I’m actually not feeling too bad about thurs, at the moment. Keep having a panic at what the results could be.
Are you managing to sleep? That’s my worse time, even if I fall asleep I’m restless.

Hi joe , ive not heard anything yet where i am they give you a followup appointment and give you the results either way then , so just waiting for appointment date . My lump was quite large and hard and a giant bruise come up about two weeks before xmas which is still there but doesnt hurt .though my lump had been there sometime prior to this …i panicked about mammogram but tbh the squishing lasts about 6 seconds so not long enough to hurt .i had 2 done on each and didnt feel anything …good luck and i hope it turns out to be nothing x

I hope you are doing ok today. I just wanted to post to hopefully give you a bit of reassurance. When I went a couple of weeks ago for a mammogram and US all the staff I came across were absolutely lovely. I went on my own (as I seem to be able to handle things better when I’m on my own much to my husbands annoyance, lol) but I really was put at ease and was fine for each test I went to.
With smaller boobs I thought they may struggle with the mammogram but they managed and I even managed to have a joke about it. Will be thinking of you x

Thinking of you today – the day before is always a bit surreal. You just want the hours to go really quickly. I hope you find some little distractions - no matter how silly. I sorted out my iTunes library!!! I can assure you that as soon as you are on way - something takes over and you have the strength to just get on with whatever is thrown at you. Keep hydrated - as your emotional brain is running a marathon at the moment and it will not work or assist in trying to keep you on an even keel when thirsty…! Take care

Apparently i had a letter sent out never received it , have a appointment with consultant today .major waterworks right now werent prepared for this lol x

Hi all , wasnt good news stage 3 , cat and bone scans tomoz to see if its spread anywhere else. God i do hope not .my 12yr old already lost his dad , can’t lose me as well …definitely weren’t prepared as i thought i would be x
Thank you lady bowler .don’t really understand the whole stage / grade thing .i guess i wont know grade till after scans tomorrow .so scared it may of spread due to how long ive had it , well to how long ive been aware of it that is x
Think i got it wrong its grade 3 not stage 3 so confusing x

So sorry to hear that, I imagine you are still in shock.
Keep looking at these threads as there are some amazing stories and it will hopefully make you see you are not alone.
I hope you have family and friends near by to look after you and give you a hug when you need it xx
Joe that is good news, am pleased to hear.
My app is 3 tomorrow and getting myself in a bit of a state over it. Can’t concentrate on anything, even my 3 children can’t keep me distracted xx

Hi ang , bit calmer now cause my son is here and decided i wont tell either of my sons till i know exactly what im dealing with .my eldest lives and works in london so easier regrding him .my dear boss kept hugging me today bless him think he hit him as much as me lol x thank you everone for your kind words
