Started rads on Monday 10th Nov. Was shattered on Wednesday but don’t know if it’s the rads, the travelling or a combination. Having to travel to Addenbrookes daily. On a good day the return journey and treatment takes about 3-4 hours because of the traffic. On a bad day - and there have been 3 out of 5 so far - about 6 hours. Feel fine except sore around the scar but am slapping on the E45 and the skin seems to be fine so far. Should finish on 4th December provided there are no set-backs.
Just read your post, I too started my rads on 10th and will be finished in another 2 weeks. The tiardness has just hit me yesterday but with a 4 year old who has had a cold and been up every night of my rads so far it could be a combination of both. My round trip is nothing like yours, yesterday I was all finished within an hour (travelling included) that has been my best time so far, but my worst only 2 hrs from start to finish, so no complaints there. I have no redness yet, but have got a pain in my neck which leads into my shoulder and then down my arm, which is causing some discomfort, I mentioned it to the radio team yest and they didnt seem concerned, take paracetamol and see how you go etc. Good luck with the rest of it, Just my ovaries to get removed on Dec 8th (precautionary as ER+) then that completes my treatment plan, apart from the Femara for the next 5 years and Herceptin for a year! Already had chemo and mast.
hi ness1
I haven’t any other pain except for the soreness around the scar. I’m only thankful that I didn’t have to have chemo and no more surgery. Had WLE and Sentinel Node removal which was clear. I’m on Tamoxifen for the next 5 years. Good luck on Dec 8th and hope the rest of the rads is not too bad for you
thank you. x
just completed my second week of rads. 2 more weeks of treatments and 4 sessions of boosters to go so half way there. i feel absolutely shattered this week and by 7.00pm i’m fast asleep. don’t know if it’s the treatment or the getting up at 5.00am to get to addenbrookes for early appointments, or the travelling. probably a combination of all three. so far i’ve had no other effects except on wednesday i was really sore but that’s now eased.
I too have just completed my first week of rads after lumpectomy, full axillary clearance and chemo. Thankfully at present I haven’t found it too bad no soreness but I think that may come a bit later on. I have still been feeling tired from the after effects of the chemo so not sure whether the radiotherapy is adding to it. My only problem is my arm and underarm which has been uncomfortable sine my op in June and was aggravated each time with chemo and the radiotherapy is doing the same thing. Just hope it all settles down after the radiotherapy stops.
Good luck to all
Bev
