My hat has just taken flight for the second time today. Thankfully neither time there was anyone close by.
I guess you would call it sort of a cricket style sunhat with cord under the chin (not that that seems to help much). I didn’t think it was particularly windy out there, just breezy and maybe a little gusty from time to time.
I was a bit hot with my acrylic beanie on yesterday.
I am shortly heading off to my sons sports day which miraculously (third time lucky) doesn’t appear to be getting rained off and I’m wondering what everyone else does for headwear when it’s breezy out.
I’m thinking of keeping this hat on but tying a knot tight up under the chin, since my other hats don’t have cords. The little leather thingy that’s supposed to pull up under the chin just falls straight back down. Might take the beanie in my pocket just in case…
My best hat - for staying put - is a ‘baker boy’ hat from Headcovers. It fits very well and I feel fairly safe even in strong wind. My wig stays put pretty well in the wind too.
But I was fruit picking on a Pick Your Own farm a couple of weeks ago and unwisely walked under a cherry tree with low branches. Suddenly realised with horror that my wig had come off and was hanging on one of the branches !
Hope you enjoy the sports day and that your headgear stays put.
Have just got back. Sports day cancelled again, due to “Health and Safety”…
Took me quite a while to realise they probably meant out of control wellies at the wellie-throwing, not trees about to fall down… It’s hard to imagine what else it might be…
Anthi that is funny! My wig seems to stay put in the wind, I put my hand on it just to make sure and I wear a hairband too. Alternatively the bandanas feel very safe in a light to mid strenght breeze!
My best wig tale is when my 9mnth old grandson grabbed my’ hair 'as he said byebye.Of course it came off in his hand ,his eyes and mouth went completely round;‘oops I’ve broken Grandma’!!But when we all laughed he did too and now he tries to grab it all the time.
I have only worn my wig 3 times since I got it last year (went bald in November, thankfully my hair is returning). This is because I live on the east coast of Scotland and it it very windy. I like to walk on the seafront and I have always had visions of my wig flying off and ending up in Norway
Bandanas and hats for me, if you don’t want to spend a lot you get really nice hats in Primark.
I liked Anthi’s story too, though it was probably pretty embarassing at the time.
I would be really worried about wearing a wig at all on a day like today. With my sunhat, as well as tying the cord tightly under the chin I put it behind my ears and that seemed to be a secure arrangement.
I may at some stage venture into Primark again, but since the queue in our local one is usually 30-deep at the tills, I’m afraid it doesn’t really inspire me to buy anything there.
