Hi everyone
Hope everyone has had a good christmas .
I finished my last treatment on Christmas eve and was wondering what i can expect at my follow up appointment in 6 weeks time.
I am due to start back to work on 3rd Jan on a phased return and am looking forward to it in one way but really apprehensive in another.
I am looking forward to starting the new year on a clean sheet.
Thanks
Jackie
Hi Jackie it is a long while since I had my follow-up appointment and all I can remember is feeling a bit abandoned - I had been in constant touch with the hospital for nearly 6 months (chemo + complications, then rads) and then all they said was “we’ll see you in twelve months time”! Of course it probably varies from area to area and other peoples’ experiences will be different to mine.
Anyway, how did it feel to be back at work? I am currently recovering from my second bout of cancer (unconnected to the breast cancer) and am feeling really anxious about going back to work this month. Last time (3 years ago) I was really keen to get back and soon felt as if I hadn’t been away. Hope your return goes as well.
Best wishes
Gwyn
Hi Jackie I too finished treatment on Christmas Eve, and am phasing back to work in Feb. Isn’t it good to think the cancer was “last year” , even though it was only a date on the calender I have found physcologically it has done me good
Good Luck
Hi
To Gwyn2 and Ruffyp
Iam due an appointment in approx 6 wekks time but havent received it yet as the receptionist was off Christmas eve.
I sorry to hear you are suffering again and hope all goes well for you.
I went to work on Thurs for 4 hours and it was fine and a bit quiet as it was the first day back at school for the pupils as well. Everyone was really nice and asked me if i was back etc. Am not going in again until Thurs and then starting back properly on the 14th. That will be mon/fri 25hours.
I know what you mean about the cancer being last year, hopefully this year will be better for all of us.
