There is also a discussion thread on here, about research and diet which has lots of other links if you’re interested. Elinda x

Wow thanks for this link - it looks really worthwhile.

alex

It’s a great website, with links to all previous research on any particular topic. Also, they give a very fair assessment of the research, and don’t seem to overreach.

Thankyou 2x for the link to the food for breast cancer site. Really helpful.

Hi
Yes, there are several threads, and there have been some very heated debates. Like Linda, I have a ‘bee’. I note the site starts off

‘how various foods and other factors affect breast cancer risk’

not ‘whether’ they affect it, but any specific food link still needs to be proved/disproved. As my oncologist put it ‘the jury is out’ … may well be true, but we don’t yet know for sure.

There is of course no harm in making sensible lifestyle changes, which overall are likely to help with general health, including dealing with cancer and treatment.

regards
Sarah

ladies i posted it for nutritional purposes.not to cure someones breast cancer.jeeeesh.

some may be able to use some info to help with chemo side effects.instead on relying on those horrible steroids.OR to get a jump start on losing some of ther extra weight that they have put on from treatments.Ocologists are useless when it comes to this stuff.

it also has a lot of articles that are summaries of the main articles published in the American Journal of Oncology and Pub Med.That are simplified so the average person with NO medical background, can understand.

lastly you can sift through the info and take away what you want from it or take nothing at all.

i found it interesting.im glad a few of you thought so too

ps now i got a “bee in my bonet” from the attitude and i removed the link.happy?

Hi 2X

This is a real shame. If you don’t mind I’m going to repost the link, because there is some very important information there that many people here are unaware of. I’ve frequently linked to this website in the past and had many positive responses. There is a new article up just this morning about some new research exploring the link between obesity and production of excess oestrogen in breast tissue - as someone with active er+ve bc this is just the reminder I needed to kick on with my diet.

We are all intelligent enough to read the research and take from it what we want, and of course if any one is confused by it they can simply ask their doctor

Edit - link removed at 2X’s request.

Hi 2X and Finty - I like the links you posted thank you. And we can either take it or leave it! Adi x

Adi - exactly.

finty x

Hi your right people can take it or leave it.But others are entitled to put there opinions and views forward.I for one am really peeved that I have to refrain from putting my opinions on here and think about what I write for fear of being accused of all sorts and my words being twisted.Yet others can write what they like.I don’t think it was necessary to remove the link, there was only two opinions made that (god forbid) didn’t like the website.

This website is for everyone and everyone has a right to agree or disagree.

I think the title of the site is unfortunate or ill advised but that’s probably just makes it easier for people to search.

I like that site and we have referred to it from time to time on the research and diet thread. It is a good way of bringing together new research in a user friendly way. It is evidence based not one of those cranky sites promising a cure. It also looks at a range of research not just diet.

I do hope people take the time to have a look and not condemn it out of hand because of an unfortunate title.

The website only publishes academic research, not opinion, and makes no false claims. “Proof” isn’t really a concept that applies in many areas of science, and if you are waiting for it you will be disappointed - there is just evidence of varying quality. I doubt very much that this website would fall foul of any regulator looking at health claims.

Very very well said.

I do understand concerns about the headings on the site. It does need some reading through to understand why things have been put into certain categories. This is always explained and research links are provided at the end of each section.
I think this could be particularly helpful if you are someone who eats a lot of certain things.

The main issue I have with the site is that the research isn’t always the most up to date - but it is a vast subject area and frankly nowhere provides all the up to date info in one place.

Why would it be subject to scrutiny from a UK advertising regulatory body? It’s not marketing, advertising or selling anything, it’s making no false claims, and is not even a UK website.

The website in question is filthy with Google Ads making all manner of idiotic health claims - which is just as bad as making the claims itself. If it wants to be a genuine hub for information on this highly dubious area it really needs to be a bit more circumspect in who it is prepared to take Google Ad money from.

I find it absurd that their Recommended Foods includes Green Tea eventhough the most recent research published last year (a vast 10 year study of in excess of 50,000 Japanese women) has revealed zero relationship between Green Tea and Breast Cancer. foodforbreastcancer.com/studies/6448

The title of the site really is pernicious and their claim that they are offering “evidence-based information on how to reduce breast cancer risk and survive breast cancer” is just plain nasty.
