For Dilys, Lucy and Pauline - Travel Insurance Hello Musketeers
Not sure how all these threads come under Recon(!) but noticed in your recent chats that you mentioned travel insurance and not being covered on chemo etc. etc.
It’s a pity the site doesn’t have a list of insurers - I’m armed with a long list of 'em - but let me say I got cover in the middle of chemo last summer from a company in Lechlade called Leisurecare - they only do EU countries. A week cost £125.
Between the end of chemo and the start of radio, we went to South Africa and got reasonable cover from MediCare. Two and a half weeks cost £285 for me AND husband.
Completing treatment (I hope!) 5 months ago, we are just back from Utah and I got cover (easily) from Fortis Insurance who were VERY helpful. £135 for both os us for two and a half weeks.
Age Concern will cover you for a standard fee but the excess is based on a points score they arrive at during your telephone “quiz”. My fee for Utah was £59 with £500 excess on any claim.
M&S wouldn’t consider me at all - goodbye Chargecard!
If you want any further contact details then let me know and I’ll excavate them. Just wanted you to know it’s do-able so don’t neglect your holidays. I might try and persuade the Site Admin folks to post a list of companies and contact details with some kind of disclaimer.
All the best

Thanks Dahlia Dear Dahlia
Thanks very much indeed for taking the trouble to post this message. I am very reassured now that someone will cover us when we are able to go overseas again. You sound as if you are doing brilliantly now which also gives me hope that all this does end one day. I’ll print your message and keep it handy. Thanks too to the forum host - I’ll have a look at that fact sheet as well.
Much love and appreciation
Dilys
Hi Dahlia
I think Dilys has said it all in her post, thanks.

Doing brilliantly? Hello Dilys
No, not really, there are many days when I struggle to count my blessings. That said I’m sitting here feeling a bit smug because I just did 21 miles on my bike in just over 2 hours and that’s the first time I’ve done it this year - yee ha! You’'ll think I’m barking mad but on Wednesday I made a GP appointment for next week because I’d been struggling to break the 20 mile barrier and was thinking there must be something amiss. Mind you it is still going to be tough next Sunday on London Brighton but someone’s gotta do it.
Hope this gives you hope!
Dahlia
Wow! Dear Dahlia
Well if that isn’t briliant I don’t know what is! That is incredible. Don’t think I have been up for a bike ride like that for years. Good for you. Hope it goes really well on the Brighton run tomorrow. You are a star. Is that London to Brighton? Or from somewhere else?
Lots of love

L2B Hi Dilys
Yes, London to Brighton Sunday 17th starting off from Clapham Common at 06:00. With any luck, not to mention a following wind, we’ll be across the finish line and have cornets in hands between 12:00 and 13:00. If you fancy a day at the seaside then feel free to come and cheer us in!
Have done 30 miles today but it took quite a while but was nicely “interrupted” but a splendid, and sizeable, Ploughman’s Lunch at a pub about 6 miles from home. After that I’d no excuse for low enerygy, am flagging a bit now though. Just planted up the final baskets/bedding and am ripe for a soak in the tub with bubbles and a nail brush!
Hope you’re having a lovely weekend, all 3 Musketeers. Well, would you rather be called The Andrews Sisters? Snigger …
Best wishes
Hi Dahlia Dear Dahlia
You are a bit of a role model! Dare I ask how old you are? Not telling you my age in case you are older. But go for it, my love. That is terrific! Will be thinking of you tomorow and willing you on. Doesn’t sound as if you need the support but you have it anyway.
Lots of love
Dilys

Dear Dahlia
Just wanted to add my good wishes to you for next Sunday London to Brighton. I think its a real achievement to be training and contemplating the ride, never mind actually doing it! But good luck.
I noticed Dilys asked how old you are, well I think if you mention the Andrews Sisters you can’t be too young!!! They were before the Beverley Sisters weren’t they?
You’re right though, prefer the Musketeers to the Andrews Sisters, not least cos I can’t sing!
Away now for a week, but will be thinking of you next Sunday.
love and best wishes

Age no barrier! Hello Dilys
I turned 50 last month. 33 miles today but in two chunks i.e. 4 hours off in between but I was cleaning windows etc. so not idle the entire time!
Yes good Luck Dhalia
oh and Ladies please count me out of the andrews sisters they are way before my time, oh God the musketeers were ancient, perhaps the andrews sisters was a better choice LOL

Hi Dahlia Dear Dahlia
Well at least you are younger than me! I was 55 in February, but I am still well impressed and am going to increase my exercises immediately. You had a good day for it yesterday, although it might have been a bit too hot. But well done anyway.
Just home from the hospital minus some unwanted fluid but plus the first 50ml into the implant! Yippee.
Loads of love
Dilys
