for Jane RA pegylated doxorubicin

Hi Jane, I remember you were asking about the side effects of pegylated doxorubicin, and you didn’t get any reply, nor did I for liposomal doxo, but yesterday I had my first session of liposomal doxorubicin+cyclophosphamide, and I collected some information that I can pass on to you. The two seems to have very similar side effects so I hope this is useful. The ladies that were doing it already told me this:
nausea, not so strong that you cannot eat (I had this with EC) but yes nausea seems to be the worst side effect.
ulcers in the month and mucositis. The ulcers seem to appear already after the first session so washing the mouth from the first day with bicarbonate solution helps. Thymus infusion seem to work , and apart from washing the mouth you can drink it as well, to help the mucositis in the esophagus.
Hand and feet syndrome. Lots of moisturizing lotion and cold water bath for the feet.
skin redness and irritation, sun screen higher than 25 when in the sun
hair loss
fatigue
low white cells count after the first cycles (same as for antracyclines)

as I said I did my first session yesterday and today I just have a bit of nausea and tiredness, but it is just the first cycle! I really hope it works…by the way, I am triple negative like you and like you I have positive supraclavicular lymph nodes (both sides).

hope this helps !

Hi Sabrina

Thanks so much for remembering me. My onc hasn’t mentioned it recently and last time I saw her was talking instead of weekly taxol as my next chemo. Currently on a chemo break and hoping that can last ill September though think my tumours are getting bigger again.

Hope your side effects continue to be manageable…I loathe nausea more than anything…hope you’ve got good anti emetics.

love and best wishes

Jane
