Thanks for your reply, you didnt say where you were having yours as I was hoping you would be with me at the Glasgow Royal!!!Lucky you having your own room within the unit,Im a terrible snorer and wont want to go to sleep as Im in a 4 bed unit and dont want to keep the other 3 awake…have thought of buying ear plugs for them as a last hope lol.Alot on here have said to take in a v pillow for extra comfort and a long handled ,flat bottomed bag to put the drains in when you walk!Ive found one in a sale-only£3.50.Tomorrow Im in for my pre op assess, would give anything for individual rooms, but we are lucky to be given our boob back arent we.If anyone reading this is going into the Royal in Glasgow for their Diep ,please let me know. How are you sleeping?I had everything buzzing in my head last night & resorted to watching qvc to chill my brain lol.Take care, chat soon to swop notes, love Debs
Hi Debs
Sadly not going to be joining you at Glasgow Royal but will be at Leicester LRI. thanks for the useful info about extra pillow and flat bottomed bag.
I know what you mean about sleeping - or rather not - I have been waking up in middle of night for a couple of weeks now and having to read for an hour or more befoe I can get back to sleep. Am like a zombie at work…Best of luck with pre-op assessments
love T
Hi girls - I had a free tram flap 5 weeks ago and although I wouldn’t want to do it again I am glad it is done and over and I am sure it’ll look great eventually. Someone told me to take one of those arched shaped pillows into hospital and I found it really helped me - in fact I’m still sleeping with it. I am still lying on my back propped up on it but also with pillows under my knees.
Good luck with your ops - it’ll soon be over
Thanks a lot Sunflower - glad to hear from someone so recently through it all. x
Twinmummy just to let you know I had my op 8 weeks ago ( left mastectomy, bilateral diepp flap reconstruction) and I am now feeling great. I can stand straight, have good movement of the arms. There is still a bit of tightness in the tummy and I have to be careful with certain movements, but there is no pain and I am happy with the scar healing and the new breasts. So! Take heart. It is a tough recovery but you get there, and to me it seems quicker than i thought.
Good luck!
