I found out last week that I had DCIS following my first ever breast screening! Now have to wait till April 23 for second biopsy on area that they couldn’t obtain tissue from due to its site the first time around. Then it’ll be another week before get results! So am feeling more anxious day by day. I am hoping that if they were worried I would have been recalled a lot sooner than the 23rd.
Hi Hattie
Your feelings are perfectly normal I was diagnosed after my first breast screening with Dcis on February 18th. After one biopsy and a second failed one my surgeon wanted to carry out a further surgical biopsy. This I refused my mind was made up. I chose a mastectomy with SLB .Iam now 3 weeks post surgery and am recovering well. I do agree the waiting is worst and fear of the unknown. Once your decision has been made you can start your journey. My cancer hadn’t spread to the lymph nodes and I need no further treatment.just regular mammograms.
I hope your treatment goes well. This forum has been a godsend and I have been reassured by the lovely ladies who reply to my posts.
Healthy hugs Podge x
Hi hattie
It’s only natural to worry, I was diagnosed on 14 jan after recall from 1st mamogram had further mamogram, ultrasound and biopsy that day to return on the Friday for results, which were dcis, then had to have core biopsy on the Monday as further areas discovered. This led to final dia of 5cm mult centri high grade dcis which took my option from breast conserving to mastectomy which I had with sentinel node biopsy on the 13th February. Now 8 weeks on from mx and immediate strattice implant recon, back at work 2 weeks, nipple sharing op and lift on good boob planned for July/august when healing complete. The good news to hang onto is that dcis is very early and so very treatable. Let us know how you get on and if you want any advice re implant recon just ask away x
Hi again everyone. Thank you for your kind words of encouragement it helps a lot knowing that you are all out there ready to talk and help one and other. I have decided to look at it positively and think that in 2.5 weeks I’ll know exactly where I stand and what’s to happen next! X

Hi there Podge… I’ve just been reading your history… Can you ask for a mastectomy even if the surgeon recommends lumpectomy?
How are you feeling now after your surgery?
How long were you signed off work?
