I was recalled for assessment and had mammogram u/sound and steriotatic core biopsy. Consultant radiologist said she had concerns even before she did the u/sound or biopsy after the procedures she then sent me to the breast nurse who advised me its DCIS. Said that i would be having a lumpectomy and radiotheraphy.
I didnt think they could tell on the day. I thought they would have to wait for the results? Are the results just to tell what grade it is? Or could they be wrong?
Im clutching at straws here

I’m sorry you’re here, but glad you posted xx Waiting is agony, try not to google and just remember dcis is very treatable. There are many types of bc and you’ll be reading all sorts but stick to what you know. Try and do nice things, days out, nice foods, meeting up with a friend.
If it helps i was recalled after my first mammogram, this like everyone caused a lot of anxiety.
2 weeks later seen in breast clinic where nurse said area of calcification they wanted to look at
Had US where Dr said she thought it looked ok but only a biopsy can give the answer, and can be a sign of early cancer (dcis)
Had mammo core biopsy
Results 9 days later, I was hanging on to words that Dr thought it looked ok but became very stressed when they rang to say they were doing further tests on it.
Anyway results, met Consultant who said it was DCIS, small and low grade, but there was another area to look at (another biopsy and more stress) . Thankfully that was benign, so they performed a WLE, which can I reassure you has so far been straightforward, and I’m now awaiting results, stress building again.
It’s a bizarre state to be suddenly thrown in, but once you get the proper results you will actually feel a bit better about things, the unknown can send us to very dark places. Use the helpline , the nurses are brilliant on here . Good luck xxx

Thinking of you, just by looking at you they know what’s ahead this can be so upsetting particularly when not expected and so hard to take so much in I was also diagnosed before the results were back.
Wishing you well, going forward take small steps, set your goals. We are all here for you with love and support.
