Free Prescriptions

Hi Everyone

I picked up a form from the Royal Marsden yesterday to complete to get free prescriptions from April - the only problem is that there is no box for people who have cancer - am I just being stupid - do I have to make my own tick box at the bottom of the list??? Can anyone help if they have filled out this form already??

Regards
Helen

Hi I dont think you have the correct form as my sister has just got one from the doctors and there is a section for people who have cancer - it is on the bottom of the form on the left hand side. Other than that the form is exactly the same as the one that you used to fill in to be exempt from charges. After saying that you could add a box on the bottom and as long as it is stamped by your doctor then it would probably be accepted.

hi Helen,
the forms only came into my doctors this week, like you i asked for the form too early i was so keen!! the new form now has tick box on for cancer.

A couple of weeks ago my doctors gave me the form that is used for exemption because of thyroid etc and they just hand wrote a cancer box on the bottom. I left it there for my dr to sign and this morning i have received my exemption card.

Hi
I too only filled in a form (new to the surgery) last week and i too recieved my expemption cert.(plastic card)
The accompaning letter states that if you hold a pre paid cert you may be entitled to a refund… So i urge you all get a form and save the money…not many perks to cancer!!!

I joined this forum when i was diagnosed last Sept. My lump was found very early and had 3 weeks of rads…I was very lucky…

I thank you all for the support i recieved in those early days when i felt very vunerable…

I am well and looking forward. Love to you all.
Thank goodness for forums like this.

It’s interesting to hear how quickly some of you got your cards. I submitted my form to my GP about 6 weeks ago and still have n’t receievd my exemption car. is anyone still wiating after this period of time? The GP practice have no way of checking if it actually was sne toff although my GP remembers signing it, and NHS BSA (who process the claim forms) don’t have a contact phone number- very convenient!

Hi,can you apply if you have a primary cancer
Mizzy xx

Hi Mizzy, anyone diagnosed with cancer is entitled to free prescriptions.

Geraldine

Yes Mizzy. Get your form from your docs and fill it in!!!
They sign it and then you can send it off to the address on the form.

Chris

Hi Geraldine

I don’t think they should be taking that long to issue your exemption card – mine only took a week or so.

I’ve found a couple of help-line numbers on their website: for questions prior to applying for your exemption card, tel: 0845 850 0030; for questions after applying for or receiving your exemption card, tel: 0845 601 8076. They also have an e-mail address for questions either before or after applying for the exemption card: <script type=“text/javascript”>eval(unescape(‘%64%6f%63%75%6d%65%6e%74%2e%77%72%69%74%65%28%27%3c%61%20%68%72%65%66%3d%22%6d%61%69%6c%74%6f%3a%70%70%63%31%40%70%70%61%2e%6e%68%73%2e%75%6b%22%3e%70%70%63%31%40%70%70%61%2e%6e%68%73%2e%75%6b%3c%2f%61%3e%27%29%3b’))</script>. Hope you get yours soon!
