Fresh armpits?

Hi everyone.
Not been here for a while. Major depression, catastrophic financial meltdown and ending a violent/abusive relationship has brought me to my knees and there’s only one way to go her (up!)
I’m self-employed so have been living on 61.35 a week since November surgery and now have been back to workin 25 hours for a couple of weeks. Finding it exhausting but “needs must”. Getting hassled by the bank and credit card company (must say CAB were chocolate fireguard useful here but at least I tried).
Anyway the problem is that the breast wound is doing nicely after radiotherapy but I had a quite huge infection in the lymph node strip and now am still very stingy and sore.
I know this is cosmetic but I am concerned about smelly 'pits. Tried wearing my original Dove roll on and it sent me into orbit with the sting. I carry out personal care at times and get VERY close to people in very small warm rooms (get the picture) so need to be fresh. I work long hours so it’s not as though I can pop home and shower, also the places I work are not the sort of places were I’d want to strip off and have a wash! (no locks on bathroom doors etc.!!!)
Anyone got ideas about a soothing underarm prep which in non- sting but effective.?
It’s grand to be alive and back to earning a crust and I’m not ungrateful but I can’t pong like this - my customers are tolerant but I’m becoming more selfconcious which really won’t help.
Best wishes and hugs from Cornwall, xxx

Hi Camborne

Glad to hear that your life is on an upwards trend. I started a thread about deodorants that I will bump up for you but if you have any infection at the moment or still not completely healed why not try using baby wipes. I used the simple ones and they are quite good.

Hope this helps

Karen

HI Camborne
Have copied this from another thread I posted on - it’s a common problem!

A friend put me on to ‘Crystal Spring’ from Holland and Barret (sp?). It is a crystal stick that you wet and roll under your arm pits then wash the stick again. It dries quickly and lasts for ages. It’s hypo-allergenic and does NOT contain:
Aluminium chlorhydrate
Parabens
Petroleum
Emulsifiers
Alcohol (no point sucking it them ;o) )
Fragrances
Propellants

You can’t use it on damaged or broken skin.

Would baby wipes help in the quick wash situation??

Good luck, I so admire you for going back to work and generally picking yourself up - not easy.

Hi Camborne,

Have you tried the Consumer Credit Counselling Service for the debt thingy. I have used them as had lots of credit card bills & since diagnosis only working part time, i am on repayment plans with them & they have frozen the interest, so am actually paying off the debt.

Sorry not answering question about pits!!
Good luck
Jane x

Many thanks for all your comments people. It’s just so good to hear from you.
I like the idea of Simple wet wipes Karen and understand the comment from Cryst about the quick wash situation. I may be able to whip to the loo and slap a couple up under my shirt for a freshen up! I don’t think I’m brave enough to try the rock thingy yet but will buy one for later, sounds a great alternative AND without all those chemicals, got to be good.
Jane many thanks, for the CCCs info. In fact I’m in the process of finding all the details after my initial telephone interview with them to get the credit people off my back. They were phoning me at 10pm and sunday mornings and all other times so that it became awful just answering the phone! The cards were stopped for me but the late payment and interest were piling up each month even though I told them the truth and wasn’t trying to renege on the debt I just wanted a 3 month break. The CCCS were much more “proactive” and so time will tell, I really don’t have any more room for grey hairs! This cancer has cost me a lot more than money I must say!
It’s all a bit of an endurance test at the mo but it WILL get better, I just would like it yesterday! Much love from Cornwall xx
