Hope further treatment works out ok for you Ange. When do you have to start this?
Lyn xx
Duh! Sorry just reread your post and it does say the 16th!! Put it down to lack of sleep again!! Brain is even more fuddled than usual.

Ange, I don’t know anything about this particular chemo but I’m sure someone will be along who does. I hope it does the job for you. Enjoy your holiday, I’ve just had a week away and it really did me good, although I must admit I didn’t want to come home! Good news about the benefits too. Take care, Pat x
Hi Ang, I have been on the chemo cappacitabine twice. The first time was almost 3 years ago. They give you tablets to take twice a day, the number of tablets depends on your weight I think. The first time went reasonably well but I developed sore hands and feet. But I am on the chemo again now and they have reduced the dose ( less tablets) and it has been much better. I find it quite easy to cope with. I had a different chemo years ago which was much more drastic. I have not lost my hair but it has thinned a bit. I also need to use anti-nausea tablets but not all the time, and tablets to help with loose stoools sometimes. Try to keep your hands and feet cool if you can. If your feet and hands become dry apply cream but do not rub in too much ( I did first time but found out that this makes the feet worse). Also do not wear rubber gloves and if you can delegate the dish washing that will help too. You take the tablets for 2 weeks then have one week off them. If you need to know anymore feel free to ask or send me a private message. Hope all goes well. Keep me posted how you are doing. from Scottishlass X

Hi ladies, just checking in. How’s everyone doing - good I hope. x
Hi Pat
I m ok . Been taking chemo tablets for two weeks got a week off now til the next lot. Not so bad as tax side effects, taste is ok but a lot more tired. Hope you and all ladies ok
Ange xx
Hi Ange and Pat
I’m glad that the tablets aren’t too bad ange.
I started back at work last week and it wasn’t too great. No one had done much to prepare for me going back. My desk had been given to other people, we’re trying to squeeze 3 people into a room for 2 because peple who had been covering for me are staying on and the new rooms aren’t ready yet. Appointments had been booked for when I’m not at work - I could keep on going. I’m just hoping that it improves when the new rooms are ready.
On a positive note I’ve had my first post chemo haircut. I’ve had a bob for years but have decided to keep my hair short now. It’s certainly a lot lower maintenance.
Nights are still very warm and clonidine doesn’t seem to be helping. Has anyone else found something that works? At the moment a fan seems to be the biggest help.
Hope everyone else is well.
Nicky x
Hello lovely ladies - all 4 of us - how the mighty have fallen!
Just took a mo to read the first 20 pages of this thread - who were those people - surely not us? - seems like a lifetime ago. Can’t believe it’s not even a year yet since I was diagnosed, yet we’ve all gone through so much.
My bestest thoughts are with you Ange - as you’re still going through it - but you can do do it, missus!
How’s the bra situation Pat? I ordered another 2 a few weeks ago,
but they’ve yet to materialise. Mind you, not even had an invoice for the first 2 yet (ssshhhhh!).
Nicky, a big boo to all your workmates - these people should know better. A haircut??? - I’m sure all mine are ingrowing hairs, sooooo slow, getting nowhere fast. Somebody said that it’s an elfin cut, shame there’s a hobgoblin’s head under it then, eh? The wig is staying put for a long, long time - at least until head shrinks a substantial amount.
Finished rads nearly 2 months ago, and didn’t get tired at all during the five weeks of treatment or for the following month, but for the last couple of weeks - omg - it’s like a wave washes over me and I just have to give in. Like going unconscious for an hour.
Luckily it always ties in with my granddaughter’s pm nap, so we’re a couple of sleeping beauties together. (Yes, eldest has gone back to her teaching job at last - only 9 months later than she’d planned 'cos of her sickly mater.)
Been trying all sorts of stuff on scars, Bio-oil, you name it … still look like a walking autopsy though. But, still here to tell the tale, so not bothered.
So, nice to do a catch up with you ‘all’, and good luck and love to us for the future. (I miss you lot, anybody else out there from this thread?)
Much love, xxJacqxx.
Hia All
Thankyou for your kind thoughts. Don t know how long I will be on tablets don, t mind as long as they work. My hair has grown loads, dont lose it with these tabs. I m sure it wot be long before you have a shed load of hair Jacqui, keep getting your head down for a kip when you need to it will do you good. Hope your work has sorted you out a bit Nicky. I am glad to be back gettin back into it now its keepin my mind occupied. I ve got a trip to London planned goin to see Les Mis and Sister Act , roll on Oct 30th. Are you all into the x factor now, I m hooked and dancing. Nice to hear your ok Pat lots of love Ange xx
Hi Ange
Glad that the tablets are going well. You’ll have to let me know how Sister Act is as I’ve just booked to go in February. I’ve since been told that it’s all new music as they couldn’t get the licence to use the Motown stuff. Thinking of booking a 2nd show while we’re there but haven’t decided what yet.
I’m hooked on the dancing. I’ve never seen x factor and don’t want to get hooked on yet another programme.
Jacq, just the thought of looking after a little one exhausts me. No wonder you’re shattered.
Work - least said the better. It’s not the job I left and the changes are not for the better. And there’s more to come. I’m paying extra in to my pension so that I can retire from this job in 9 years. It can’t come soon enough. I’ll still have to do another job but it won’t be in the public sector. Enough of the moaning.
Jacq, your hair will grow. My gp specialises in alopecia and says the more you leave your head uncovered the faster your hair will grow.
Ange take care of yourself.
Nicky x
