hi all does anyone know if chemo patients come under a special rule regarding getting fuel if there is a strike just a bit concerned as ive a hr drive to hos every 3 weeks many thanks laura
Hi Laura
Try not to worry about this, you’ve probably got enough on your plate as it is! As far as I understand no decision has yet been taken on a strike, and at least 2 of the distribution companies will be working normally. All that seems to have happened today is that some people have been panicked into buying by irresponsible comments, but once their tanks are full the rest of us can get on with things as usual. Just keep your tank topped up as and when you pass a filling station with no queues.

Hi yea thanks for that my oh is a cabbie so double trouble for us lol he filled up last night the garages near me were queing out the door norm thing when government mention don’t panic buy typical hopefully be ok Laura
Hi Laura, I can understand your anxiety, at the last fuel strike I was pregnant with high blood pressure problems and had to go for daily check ups at the ante natal ward, the hospital assured me that they would set up patient transport for those without fuel and needing to come in for treatment. Maybe your hospital has a similar procedure in place! The media/politicians have a lot to answer for causing such anxiety with their hype!
after hearing the lunch time news and 3 garages down here are shut today id thought id call my bcn to ask if there was a fuel shortage where do we stand ie for chemo and i cant believe im the only person thinking this but she aint a clue just sd ive not been asked and she dont know what will happen nice to see they are prepared like the govement
I understand Laura’s concerns. I have to go for radiotherapy 5 days a week for 3 weeks, beginning mid to late April, and it’s a 1 hour round trip. So not only the cost now worries me but what the fuel situation will be. Many of the garages locally and near my family have run out of fuel already. Hopefully it will be sorted out by then but I feel for those who are going through it now who have immediate concerns.
