I have been doing ok, little more painful than the first op as are the excersises but not massively. Under arm and arm pit are completely numb but have been advised this is all normal. I know it is a shock when your told its in lymph nodes but trying to keep positive. Results not until 3rd June which is longest had to wait.
Thank you it is good luck on your continued recovery x
Hi @bluesatsuma and thanks for replying. Sounds like you’re keeping an eye on it. Hopefully it will settle down. Good luck with your next procedure. From thinking my lymph nodes were ok I feel quite nervous and scared now knowing they’re not and that I now need a CT scan then chemo plus radiotherapy. There’s so much to take in isn’t there, it seems to keep ramping up. Lymphodema, possible hair loss…. so much.
Still, I hope your next results will be reassuring. Take care xx
Hi @toffee - so glad you’re staying positive. It’s good to know how you’re feeling after the node clearance. Must say I’m finding it difficult to stop my mind thinking negatively and worrying about the possible side effects. However am still determined to give it my best shot and get rid of this disease . Hoping you’ve now got rid of it! Take care xx
We’re here with fingers crossed Toffee xx
2 weeks post op and is certainly more uncomfortable than first op. Skin in area, down to elbow very sensitive but under arm numb… exersises bit painful but trying to do as much as I can, still 2 weeks from results so trying to keep busy as a distraction. T
Recovering well from op, just waiting for results and like us all hoping for positive outcome. Doing everything advised to avoid any complications but it is early days. T
Hi @toffee - glad you’re managing despite it being more painful and difficult. At least I know what I might expect. Wishing you all the best for your results Let us know how you get on. I think keeping occupied is probably the best plan!
We’re having a little holiday before my next op - they seemed to think it was a good idea (that in itself is a bit ominous!)
Take care
I found the node clearance painful to recover from. It was definitely harder to do the exercises and like you, I had numb armpit and pain down to wrist. It was worst by elbow. I can say that 6 weeks on, all is normal, although I’m still a little bit numb at top of inner arm. It’s getting better everyday though. It’s still early days but you will be ok. Xxx
Thank you thats reassuring to know. I will let you know results T
Good luck and think having a holiday is a great idea, enjoy x
Hi @toffee and @bluesatsuma. Hope you’re both recovering well. I’m now back from our holiday which was great. My full node clearance is now in 12 days time . I was wondering how you were feeling after 2 weeks? We had a 2 night stay booked for about 2 weeks after my op and I’m wondering will it be a nice distraction or a bit difficult at that point? I know we’re all different though… It would be quite chilled with friends - short walks, coffee shops etc! Thank you!
Hi @anne3. Glad you enjoyed your holiday. I hope I can reassure you that you should be ok for your nights away by 2 weeks after the node clearance. I’d say take it easy and after the op, make sure you do the exercises 3 or 4x a day. I’m awaiting results from surgery no.3 now. I’d say the short break will be a great distraction but do make sure its not too strenuous. Hope it all goes well xxx
I was still in a bit of discomfort nothing that would have stopped me from going away for a few days however. I would still be cautious of lifting though. Have s great time.
Hi @bluesatsuma and @toffee - thank you so much, that really helps to hear from people who have already experienced it. I think I’ll plan on still going as it’s a group of four couples who meet each year for a few days. We’ve known them since uni 40+ years ago! I can take it easy
By the way good luck with your results. Hope you feel ok after that third op. It must seem never ending but hopefully you’ll be able to see light at the end if the tunnel! All the best x
Hi @anne3
Same thing happened to me. I have my appointment today to dsicuss results of my PET scan and the treatment going forward. I’m trying my best to keep calm but not doing the best of jobs
It’s overwhelming how i went from a lump found by accident, too small to be felt to a lumpectomy and then mastectomy/chemotherapy. What scares me the most was the need for the pet scan to determine if i have something else in another place…
It’s going to be a bumpy ride, but I’m to stubborn and to determined to see this through and be able to say: i am a breast cancer surviver and i wish the same for everyone x
Hi @dhmb Sorry you find yourself here too, but this forum is fantastic for support and tips. I totally understand how you feel. It’s all surreal and a strange world to be in. I’m seeing the surgeon for results tomorrow and then the oncologist next week for the treatment plan. Getting that appt date through hit me that it’s real as the two ops haven’t been too bad. Let us know how you get on today! Wishing you all the best
Hi @anne3 ,
Such good news, the PET scan showed there isn’t anything else anywhere, but there is a shadow near my spine so an MRI to follow.
I am sooo happy, beyond measure. I still have BC and chemotherapy and mastectomy are to follow, but that is a long road i still have to travel BUT… it’s not something that’s beyond treatment and that was my biggest fear that honestly was driving me in a downward spiral.
A huge hug and hoping your appointment brings good news. You got this
