Getting away...

After diagnosis in October, mastectomy with reconstruction in December and on 5/6 FEC-T chemo I am starting to see the light at the end of the pretty dark cancer tunnel! I am looking to go away for 4 or so nights to a retreat where I can do Yoga, walk, swim, eat well and focus on starting to recover. I have 2 children under 4 so getting peace at home is not always easy.
I wondered if anyone had any recommendations of places to go - wondering about Austria or perhaps Spain? Any advice welcome!

Becca

Hi Becca

there is a beautiful retreat centre in Spain that I have been visitiung every year for about 15 years. Easy to get to from local airports (fly to Malaga) then transfers to the centre. Apart from the beautiful environment the atmosphere  is very nurturing and the veggie food GREAT. Also good fun with good groups of people and you can join in as much or as little as you like. It is in the Alpuharras near to Orgiva, one hour from  Granada. I’m not sure if i can put the name here as it might count as advertising which is banned, so I’ll PM you if I can. xxx

I have Private messaged the name to you. But for others who might be interested, and to avoid advertising  I can say that it is a 2 word name, the first word of which is Cortijo, which is Spanish for farm, so Googling that might get you to the website! Otherwise I’ll pm anyone else who might want to check it out. xxxx

Sounds amazing! I’ll look it up. A friend of mine went to one in France, I’ll find out where. Closer to home there’s the Penny Brohn centres in the UK which focus on cancer recovery, relaxation, healthy eating etc - and it’s a charity so free/ donation.
