Getting expander implant changed tomorrow.

Hi Sharon - me too wondering how its working out for you?. I’ve got my date now for 28th Jan - can’t remember if i said that before.Interested also in your return to work timescale. Crystal - i’ve been told a 2-3week recovery.

I am having my double operation on the 24th Jan, so very close to yours.

Can I ask why you are having yours changed?

I am having mine replaced because one is leaking - trust me the get the dodgy one!. (It leaked as soon as it was expanded in September 2010)
I am unhappy as they are a bit hard, and I am hoping that the final result will be softer.

Hi Crystal - my surgeon told me at the onset his preference was to do the operation in 2 stages, first an expander implant followed by a permanaent saline one. He said he thinks the results are better that way. I’m hoping so - the expander i have had for a yr now is brick hard and sits “higher than a high thing” I’m not looking forward to a return to hospital a yr to the day since MX but i’m looking forward to an improvement on what i have now. Then there’s the nipple issue to deal with after that.

Good luck for the 24th - please let me know how it goes for you.

Lynn

sorry meant silicone not saline

Lets hope that it is an improvement for both of us.

As we are only 4 days apart when we have our operations it will be interesting to see how we both get on with our recovery.

I have already decided that I will be having a nipple recon at some point - maybe another 6 months down the line.

what a very long road this is for all of us.

Good luck with yours too

Crystal
