Has anyone taken part in a study currently ongoing to use a glue to stick the skin on the back following an LD recon rather than stitches? My hospital have asked if I want to take part in the study (though they toss a coin to see which they will use whilst in theatre to keep it random) and state that it is hoped that it may reduce sernoma (fluid, think it spelt it wrong) occurrences after surgery.
Has anyone else had this and has any thoughts it/experiences of fluid or not with it?
I wasn’t part of a trial but my skin was glued.I had internal stitches but glue on the outside.I am not sure if this is the same, will you have internal stitches?
The glue makes a neat job on the out side as you don’t get the stitch marks.
No idea if it affects seromas,I have had mine drained 3 times now
Yes I think I will be having internal stiches and glue on the outside if they “randomise” me for the study. Nice to know the closure may be neater, thanks.
Yes, like Dotchas, I had glue on the outside and internal stitches - worked really well and meant no dressings.
I was also the first person they’d used ‘human glue’ on at the hospital (didn’t like to think about that one too much!) as an experiment to stick my tummy back down! Think it’s been ok!
