Gobby Gang Cont

I spoke to Lyn last night and hoping that Claire can give me lift from her station up to Lyn’s. I can make sunday only next weekend and the following weekend.
Having a good time at my sister’s. Been staying at Travel Lodge and it’s been lovely as the children have been staying at their cousins!!! I’m using thier computer now whilst hubby and sister taken kids to park and bro-in-law cooking dinner!!
Come to the conclusion as I eat so slowly that I need one of those plate warmers with a nightlight in like they use at Chinese Restaurants - that would be a novel birthday present!!!
There have been some really nasty bugs round here - mostly effecting chests but also middle ear infections with everyone feeling dizzy.Hope Sam and Trace get better soon.
Trace - don’t think Lyn is up to going anywhere at present.
Seemed to have a developed a huge red area on right boob - don’t know if it is a simple mastitis or a new reoccurance - will see what happens in next few days.
Speak/text soon
Kate

Kate if Claire picks you up from her station then I may need to scrounge lift too as Lynn’s is quite awkard for me I would have to get train right into London then swap around on the underground which I dont feel I am ready for yet. next Sunday is better for me.

lets hope that red mark is nothing sinister.

for the moment arrange without me, just checked trains and line is down next weekend and not saying for how long, a 40 min train journey is now taking 1hr 34mins cross country which is b*llocks.

Debs

Just got back from having my toenails partly removed. I’m glad I’ve lost so much sensation in my toes as it only really hurt on one side of my toe when they injected it with local anaesthetic. Don’t think i could have gone through with it if it hurt as much as the third injection. Will have to see how it goes when the local anaesthetic wears off.
Can swallow so much better now which is a relief.
What are we going to do about meeting up then. Suggest we text each other to arrange it if it is going to happen this weekend.
Apparently part of my podcast is up on site so will have to listen. I had a bad cold that day so dread to think what it sounds like!!!
Hope to see some of you soon then.
Kate

Right everyone,

debs will meet you at underground station so you dont have to travel alone, if you can do it, Trace always up for a bevvey we could meet at london bridge again, Kate you sound quite upbeat apart from the toes yeuch! I’m glad you can have more chemo(hate having to type that really) but thank goodness you persuaded him to let you have a go.

I can do this sun or next, I guess we will have to start texting

I’m on a press realease for breakthrough breast cancer’s launch of chemo trails for triple neg breast cancer! Have been warned that journalists may want to interview me so whatch out ladies may go to my head and get all victoria beckham on you

xxxxxxsam

First claire now sammy, dont know what the rest of us are doing wrong girls!!!

Kate glad you can swallow better and toes finally sorted sounds yucky tho… Sammy let me no after the weekend whats happening if u all arrange another meet etc…

Have fun.x

Thanks Sam for the offer, as really not wanting to get knocked about at the mo, but have checked both train services that come through local station and both lines are getting worked on, my usual direct route will take just over 3.5 hours and even getting to Claires that usually takes just 40 mins is now over 1.5 hours. If trains had been on then I would have risked it as have managed to get out walking the past few days but tummy is still tender and now beginning to feel the new boob (must be the nerves) not allowed to drive yet I am pretty stuck. So sorry girls really not up to sitting in some old coach going over bumpy country roads, will not be able to make this one.

Am still on iron tablets but having bloods tested again next week so hopefully when I have next appt with PS 21st I will be allowed to stop taking them.

Kate glad you finally have that manky toe sorted and up to swallowing again (god that sounds rude).

Hello to all you others and like Trace says have fun

Love Debs

Debs, just a tip if iron tablets arent working (as they are generally pretty useless and ur body absorbs less than a quarter of each one u take - liquid iron called spa tone which can be bought in health food shops is fantastic. Its about £7 for 30 or so sachets and works brilliantly i took it throughout my chemo and didnt have 1 low count my hb was above 15 at all times!!! Just an idea. x

Me and Claire have been texting, she cant make this weekend either as family birthday. She has also been poorly with this flu bug and still off line at the moment.

Trace thanks for tip, have blood test on monday so will see what score is, think it should be higher as inner eyes are looking much better, when I was in hospital they did mention on a couple of occassions transfusion which I always decline (unless I have a limb hanging off and bleeding to death) cant stand the thought of someone else’s blood in me.

Its been P*ssing it down here all last night and all day today and local news has just announced train lines are getting flooded, I dont think it was meant to be for me this weekend, if you are still meeting have a good lunch with plenty of ozzy red wine.

Kate and Sammy hope you are both feeling better and Lynn too, I thought she would be posting again now as back in London, where are you FIT BRIT???

My tummy is getting stronger found myself walking 2 stairs at a time earlier today and been out walking a couple of miles each day with sister.

Love to you all, Debs

Hi all,

debs glad its coming along… lyne cant cope looking at computer screens after her meningitis like symptons after her op. I spoke to her yesterday and she is feeling a bit better and her nerve damage seems to be improving cos she isnt in such bad pain thank god, it sounded horrific.

Kate we cant go up tomorrow- have texted you but will phone to make sure you have got message!!
love to all, of to try and finish painting front room!!

xxsam

Hello Girls,

I’ve finally managed to sort out my internet. Did’nt think it would be so difficult to swap broadband providers!
Well, i’m glad you are all doing so well, its taken me ages to read thro all this.
Sorry i cant do this weekend, if someone had let me know sooner i could have got out of the family dinner tomorrow. Never mind! I’m pretty skint at the mo from christmas and it does you no favours getting paid early before xmas, so personally i would prefer if we could meet up after pay day. I prob cant do the 3rd feb as out with my Kiwi friend on the 2nd which will involve huge amounts of alcohol as shes going home for 5 weeks (lucky cow!) and i’m sure i’m gonna really miss her.
Oh, he wants me to do something for him, currently drilling hole in living room floor! Will be back soon to finish off my chatter
Claire xxx

Right i’m back!

Our front room is a nightmare. Before xmas we ordered a new fireplace as the one that the one we had did’nt actually work! The problem that we have is that we have no gas supply and so we have to channel out the floor which happens to be concrete so we can get a gas supply, hence all the mess!

Anyway, i was poorly over part of xmas and new year with the flu thing thats been going around, last year i was nuetropenic and did’nt pick it up but this year i’m supposed to be fit and well and got ill, must be overworked!! Work has been exceptionally busy tho with this silly 18 week wait target that we have to meet, its silly as all the top dogs are the ones that get whopping bonuses and us workers just get extra work and no extra staff and the trust doesnt even buy you a box of chocs to say thanks and merry christmas!! it was a joke as they were doing a raffle to win a £20 voucher but that was for all the staff over 3 hospitals!!! I did’nt win! Enough of work!

Oh, i did raise a ickle glass of red to Moira at Xmas and New year, still miss her loads. xx

I got date thro for an op, 7th Feb, need a hysteroscopy as have had some bleeding on the tamoxifen and thats not allowed so need to see whats going on in there!. Still waiting for BRACA results! if its positive then i will have my ovaries out but the consultant i work with has recomended and hysterectomy if thats the case anyway.

Saw my breast surgeon too as he wanted to take some finished photos and i was showing him the flat bit at the top of the new boob and under the arm and its where i’ve lost a stone since its been done and he’s offered me liposuction and a fat transplantation!! oooooo, gonna loose lots more so he can take more fat from my legs!! He he!

Just discovering facebook too today, Tracey with blonde hair!!! I’ve just added a very glamourous photo of me, dont look like that first thing in the morning! Especially my hair!! i’m growing it as i need to grow it in order to cut into the style that i want, aiming for a Flavia look but at the mo i look like i’ve got Amy Winehouses beehive on my head as its growing upwards!!

Flung a dummy and double booked myself!! signed up for the Moonwalk again but have also comitted myself to a girls weekend in Bath for my friends 40th, tough desicion but think Bath with lots of wine wins over 8 hours of agony and blisters!! i’ve paid for the moonwalk so at least i’ve contributed!

Hope we all have a fab new year that is as healthy as possible and that we meet up as soon as we can and it would be fab ifits all of us.

Speak soon and love ya lots

Claire xxxxxxx

Claire - good to see you back on line.
We didn’t meet up this weekend in the end so you have n’t missed anything.
Keep thinking of Moira too - think she was made of sterner stuff than me. I don’t know how she kept going like she did. There is no way I could work 10 hr days.
Been really flagging this week as been getting up at 7am as hubby gone back to normal hours cos we needed the money. Downside was - seemed to need a sleep in the morning and agian in afternoon so very little time to get anything done. Today I got up at 930am and not flagged all day so obviously need to go to bed earlier and get 10 hrs sleep and then I should be able to be awake all day but going to bed at 9pm seems a little early to me!!!
Claire - Think I would choose the Bath weekend over the Monnwalk as you say you’ve paid and you raised a lot last year.
My toes are beginning to heal and they haven’t hurt very much at all.Thank goodness.
What is the current thinking on dressings? The podiatrists want me to soak my feet in saline every day and dress them with a dry dressing. The district nurses are either pro inadine or to use jelonet or mepital and only redress if they seem to be oozing!!! Have rebelled tonight and not redressed them as intend to have a long bath tomorrow morning whlist hubby takes the kids swimming. Actually I must be feeling better as I had lost all confidnce in myself and wouldn’t have a bath unless hubby in and also have been out today to the local park with the boys by myself.
Seem to be bruising rather easily and have a definate patch now on right boob which looks like mastitis but no flu like symptoms so think it is a new recurrence which is worrying as the gem/carbo has def helped my swallowing and breathing. Even managed bread today and a scone!! Just odd how a new recurrence is not responding - do I mention it or not on thursday. maybe they can do some local rads to it. Really feel I need iot in my back ribs and vertebrae as they are quite painful unless I sit supported now all the time. Need 3 or more microwaves or at least 1 upstairs and 1 down. I need to warm my 3 wheat bags as it helps the pain plus my hot milk at night and so seem to spend the end of the evening trotting up and down stairs which is not so good for me. If hubby still downstairs then he throws then up tp me but if I’m up later then it’s up and down I go!!
Must go -hope we can meet up soon.
Has anyone listened to my dec podcast yet???
Love to you all
Kate

Claire good to see you back again, by god you will do anything to loose more weight, and agree with Kate go for the girlee weekend.

Kate tried to listen to podcast, didn’t get to listen to anything but read your story re naked photos, you rebel, watch out, your hubby may super impose on morris minor and send off as readers wives.

For get together I prefer Sundays and will try and fit in with date that suits everyone else, have 2 checkups next week, PS and 2 year with BC, hoping PS will give me go ahead to drive again and get back to work, so bloody boring being of in cold january, went out for really big walk with sister today have decided cant have a lardy arse with neat flat tummy.

Hopefully se you all soon Love Debs

Claire defo agree with others it has to be bath! Whats the op date for??? Can sympathise with upside down house my flat has been like that for a year now!!! Slowly getting it sorted and am moving in on tuesday at long last (only bedroom and bathroom done but better than nothing).
Debs hope u can drive soon, didnt realise it would take this long to be able to…
Kate have no idea what a podcast is let alone how to listen to it or where to find it…help!!
Sammy think i must be missing out on a bit as dont no anything about stuff u r talking about with lyn and side effects…
Its a shame u guys didnt get to meet up this weekend, when r we gonna meet…
Not got much to say about me except im starting to resemble a human paintbrush, must go wash my hair then off to college…
See you all soon lots of love.x

trace

lyn had a really nasty reaction to the docs messing about with her spinal column- she got that defered pain thingy- he leg was so sensitive to touch/pain that it felt like it was on fire when she even lightly touched it. She told me about it when I spoke to her about seeing her last weekend. Great to hear about your flat, dont suppose you will have a moving in party after all that hard work…

Girls I am reallt p*ssed off but trying to keep things in perspective. Started to get conjuctivitis on sat, to cut along story short (and unable to see doc cos of rubbish booking system) went to a and e today(back at kings when I promised myself I wouldnt go there this year!) and my eye and face so swollen eye nurse presumed it was an allergic reaction. Referered to eye clinic, waited ages, eye angry and red and blistered, doc says I have one of the worst cases of conjuctivitis he has seen- all glands down right side swollen too. Have to go back next week for check up. He says it is so set in that my eye will take up to 2 months or longer to recover and my immune system must be really struggling- told him about bc and chest infection/ constant sore throat.

My bloods came back fine before christmas-but what is going on with my body? I’ve never had so many infections, never had a chest or eye infection befor its really concerning me now. Come on you nuses- you must have some tips!!

Going now as eye is too sore

sorry to go on and not talk about others news

sam

Thanks for update sammy. God u poor thing, sounds awful make sure u dont pass it on to H as its really infectious. I no exactly what u mean about feeling s**t. I have had permanent cold or sore throat since oct then got severe chest infection needing inhalers etc that i already told u about…i like u got a bit worried, but there are some really nasty bugs about and unfortunately once ur immune system has been battered by one it leaves u open and more vulnerable to others…
Little tricks - echinacea supps, vit c or a good multivit, lots of fruit and veg as well as rest, oh and gentle exercise (mmm maybe i should take my own advice!!!).
Let me no when ur feeling better and we’ll meet at the bridge for that beer.
x

Oh, have had 3 moving in parties already but never yet got around to moving in!!! Maybe i will ask si if i can have one just for the gobby gang…

Sammy - I think I was told that once you’ve had chemo eren though your wbc might look normal, they just don’t seem to be as efficient at killing bugs so that’s why you get prone to infections and then as Trace said once you’ve had one bug your weakened immune system can’t cope so you get another one. Sorry, to hear about your eye - be very careful with your little one as it is so infectious.
I couldn’t have chemo today as I only have 1 neutrophil and 2 wbc and my haemoglogin (iron ) is only 80 so nearly had to have a blood transfusion but they have decided to leave it till next week. I’m going to have a long line put in next week plus the chemo. will have to eat lots of iron rich foods now!!
Both onc consultants looked at this red patch on my right boob but they didn’t think it looked like skin mets and they can’t find any lumps. Now I’m wondering if inflammatory bc starts this way? The lymph node lump under my right arm pit has disappeared so it is very odd. I still think it is cancer!!! Am going to have rads to left hip and right shoulder/rib/shoulder blade as in so much pain. Shouldn’t have to wait more than a couple of weeks for that.
Which Sunday are going to go for? Don’t think it matters to me which.
Does anyone know how Lyn is now?
Claire and Debs hope you are OK.
Kate

Hello Ladies,

Sammy your eye sounds awful like the others say, our immune systems have had a battering so we probably have worse symptons than others. Although saying that I have managed to stay clear of all th nasties going around at the moment even with loads of them getting sick in my office and did shout at one lady who insisted on coming in to tell us all that she was dying and then sneezed all over me a week before I was due in hospital.

Well my bloods are starting to behave, rang through for test results, score is now 12.2, the practice nurse told me it was probably best to stay on the iron until Monday when I see the PS again. So 5 weeks of iron tablets has done its job, also been eating red meat and putting spinach leaves into wraps with humous, peppers and red onion. (there you go Kate)

Recon update, I do have 2 tiny little areas still weeping on and off, one in the middle of tummy scar and the other under new boob, I thought at first it was my clothes rubbing them but finally decided to do some proper prodding after bath this morning and have found a stitch in both areas, tried to tug them gently but they refused to budge and made me bleed, so thought best to leave them for PS, also had to clean new belly button, a very strange sensation and I will admit was a bit frightened of it.

Kate hope your bloods sort them selves out and onc’s are right that its not cancer, they seem to be giving you all the treatment again.

Trace think we will have to come round to view this flat and christen it officially with some ozzie red wine. Where are you on the travel plans?

Well I need to sign off, OKH has just found nits in daughters hair again (she slept at school friends Friday night). Duck!!!

Can we try next get together when Trace isn’t working so we can all be there. (and I promise I wont give you nits)

Love you lots Debs
