I cant do much fish so that’s out.
Red Berries - is it true these are good for you?
Green tea? Good?
Take Aways - No? Not chancing now after poor Lilly’s expereinece
Mayonnaise?
Unpasturised Cheese is a no no I think?
Please tell me Ice Cream is okay?

Hi there - I’m of the “a little bit of what you fancy does you good” school of thought! Especially when going through chemo. I found my tastes changed a lot and sometimes I just “had to have” a certain food. Of course you want to eat a healthy, well balanced diet, but personally I don’t think there are any “good” or “bad” foods as such. Enjoy what gives you pleasure, and don’t feel bad about it. Others may have other ideas! Good luck with the rest of your chemo. Sarah x
Hi, I agree with seabird “a little bit of what you fancy does you good” I think you can tie yourself up in knots trying to find out which foods are supposed to be good for you. I started to look things up after my treatment finished (rads not chemo so no change to taste buds) and found so many contradictory reports. Every week we see newspaper articles about food which is supposed to be good for us only to find a few years later they got it wrong.
If your really concerned ask to speak to a nutritionist at the hospital.
Sorry can’t help with any other ideas to help you through chemo but I wish you all the best with your treatment.

I tried to eat as healthily as possible during my treatment, but sometimes I would succumb to rubbishy stuff as it was all I could taste. FEC gave me the horrible metallic taste and Taxotere gave me a sickly taste. OH grows veg and salad so I ate as much of that as possible and made a lot of home made soup.
I have been constantly on chemo for the last 20 months and there’s no way that I could sustain a rigid diet. The only things I don’t eat are unpasteurized cheeses and I also make sure that if I eat prawns that they’re from a reputable source. The other thing I was told by the Matron of our chemo ward was not to eat pate.
Apart from these I eat what I like. I have always eaten ‘healthy’ food long before I had cancer and haven’t really changed my diet except that I don’t really drink now (will have the odd white wine spritzer) but that’s because of my liver involvement.
