Good luck to my fellow Abbey Dashers!

So excited to be running in the Leeds 10k Abbey Dash tomorrow and raising funds for Breast Cancer Care.

This time last year I had to give up my place as I had just been diagnosed with breast cancer. Almost a year to the day and I’m happy to say I’m fit and well after a WLE and SNB 2 days before Christmas, followed by radiotherapy which finished in March.

I have been very lucky that it was picked up as part of a trial to screen younger women (I had no symptoms), and that it was so treatable. My perspective on life has certainly shifted and I feel like doors are opening. The first being the opportunity to volunteer with Breast Cancer Care on the Someone Like Me service, I love being able to support others.

I have been overwhelmed by the sponsorship I’ve received for the Abbey Dash, at the last count it had tipped the £600 Mark!

I’ll be wearing my Breast Cancer Care vest with pride tomorrow on what will be an emotional run for me. Good luck to anyone here who is running it too.
