Good News

I just wanted to share with you some good news that I received today from my oncologist at my OPA. My CT scan which I had last week shows that my bone mets. are healing, there is no progression to my vital organs and although the bilateral pleural effusions where obscurring some of the lung details she was confident that the lung mets were also healing. The yippee moment was when she said that chemotherapy was not the way to go at the moment, as my present treatment of Denosumab and Exemestane seem to be working very well for me. If I wasn,t so breathless I would have jumped for joy, I feel like a weight has come off of my shoulders.

Now all I have to do is hope they have a bed for me on Sunday in Guys to have my pleural effuions drained and fixed !! Can’t wait !!

Hooray that is good news that the magic pills are working. Its always nice to hear these things though the forum to cheer us all up.

You obviously have a very good Oncologist that has chosen the best plan of action for you and its working.

Fantastic news Ann long may it continue all the best for Sunday xxx

Great news Anne xxx

Anneemay - I think I must be naive or stupid as I always thought that being HER+ was a good thing as we could then have the newer treatments like Herceptin etc which are a lot kinder than the chemos that we will be offered if the hormone pills dont work ??

You obviously know more about all this. I am HER- negative too . I dont understand all these things much but they say online  that only 20% are HER+. The other 80% must be HER negative then and so dont get the Herceptin options ?

Hello anneemay. Thank you for taking the trouble to explain it all. I had no idea about it. I was tested in 2004 at primary dx as they were trialling herceptin but I was not suitable. I will mention it to my oncologist when I see her in March. Phew there is so much to.learn from all this and its so good to have these forums with all the knowledge that everyone can offer.

Hi Carolyn
I’m no expert in er too.i believe her2 is the most aggressive but also has lots of new good treatments…there is also triple neg which has less treatments
…take care.sharonx?

Thank you Anne and Sharon …it’s been very good to read all these things as I’m still trying to get my head around it all. Especially treatments further down the line when letrozole doesn’t work etc. I read all threads and realise that not two breast cancers are the same and there are hundreds of variations of secondaries and spreads etc. When I got the primary I just took the treatment and got on with it but this time I am hungry for knowledge of what lies in store for me as i am such a wimp. Definately not brave like a lot of you ladies here.
