Firstly I would like to apologise to anyone who is on my facebook and thinks that the scan results I had today were good, that was the impression I was hopeing to give I just couldn’t face telling everyone the bad news.
So went in today for the results of my ct scan (last one was a year ago) the lung mets are still stable with no change which is just fantastic news BUT and I wasn’t prepared for this there is something on my liver at the moment they don’t know what exactly and I’m to have another ct specifically looking at the liver, apparently this ‘something’ also showed up over a year ago at the last ct scan (except they didn’t tell me about that!!!) at the moment they can’t be sure it is anything to worry out or whether or not it is mets. We are hopeing that this new ct scan (next 2 weeks) will explain exactly what the ‘something’ is ! My onc did say that it could be scar tissue or some sort of thickening. Left the hospital in a bit of a daze and feeling unsure and confused about everything.
Can anyone on here with Liver mets share what their symptoms were when they discovered they had mets to the liver?
Hi Sarahlouise. I was dx with small spot on liver in Feb 2013. I didnt and still dont have any symptoms but I do look out for swollen tummy, ribs hurting, loss of appetiete. I have had chemo/pertuzumab/herceptin as my initial treatment and I have now just had 1 treatment of herceptin/pertuzumab and I also have tamaxifen. I am presently in the middle of having radiotherapy. I havent had the results to my scan after chemo yet but the onc doesnt seem worried. I am told they cant be sure it is mets until treatment, chemo, is finished in my case but they werent taking any chances. I am starting to feel more like my old self. I am told the liver can repair itself quite well and I have read lots of stories and been given plenty of info from ladies on here who have been and still are living with liver mets for many years. My onc tells me there are many treatments out there and I will be here for a very long time. I know it is scarey when you hear liver mets but please dont read info on the internet because it is very out of date. There is a lady on my chemo ward that was dx with liver mets 10 years ago at my age (43) she is still well and going strong (thanks to Herceptin) and I am told she is not the only one. Take care of your self.
Hi sarahlousie, what a shock to be told they had known about this for over a year. I hope your ct shows all is well for you very soon, take care, belinda…xx
Hello Sarahlouise, I had multiple liver mets (largest size of tangerine) and no symptoms I was aware of! Docetaxol chemo was very effective in shrinking them right down for now…
