gout and chemotherapy

I’m 57 years old and had my first chemo (FEC) on 24/11/10. I last had a gout attack 5 years ago and I’m feeling the distinct signs of another gout attack. I could do without this on top of everything else.
I’ve been drinking gallons of water to try and stop another episode as the last one took over 6 weeks to subside.
No-one warned me that chemo could result in loads of uric acid being released despite the fact that I told the onc that I was on alloprinol because of gout.
I didn’t expect this side affect and I am not coping very well.
I know that this problem won’t be recognised by many of you ladies but any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
