Hi Ladies first time out of the house yesterday ( apart from hospital appointments ) Hubby and kids tuck me out for my tea so made the effort and put face and wig on still looked like Im on chemo but oh well I tryed …
Have a bit more energy now so think calcium tabs working , hospital think Im grinding my teeth which is what is causing facial pain so they are doing me a gum sheild hubby just laughed …
anyway pain not as bad so fingers crossed .
mri scan not avail until another 3 weeks and thats urgent !!!so going to speak to onc as would like to start rads now starting to feel stronger …How mad is that hope I dont regret saying that you know me get every side effect going .
Barabra Holiday and new bobbies lucky you enjoy …
Linda How is the rad area is it healing are they still zapping you while skin is broke ? How was bimgo ?
Daisy glad your rads have started , Zoladex implant think they mentioned that to me is that to stop hormones ect hope you won at bingo .
Laura I was the same as you and asked to be taken off them it did help but I did spent over a week in hosital when I went neuraplinic !! Not sure If injections would of prevented this !!!
Any way hope Now I feel like this every day I can start feeling a bit better trying to reduce pain killers slowly aswell so should be drug free soon …
Well Daisy and me met up, we played bingo and had pie and mash. It was a great afternoon and Daisy won twice and i won once so we didnt have to spend a great deal. If you are ever down this way Lisa or Barbara, let us know and we can all meet up.
Glad to see you are on the mend, hopefully you will keep picking up now. Rads are not causing me problems. i have no broken skin so far, just looks reddy brown. i have been careful and moisturised regularly. I have had no real side effects with rads, do not even feel that tired. Lets hope same is true for you.
Anyway, i am being a bit naughty now and eating haagan daas pralines and cream icecream yum yum…
Thanks for a great time Daisy (sharon) and hope to see yu again soon
Glad to hear you had a great time at Bingo Linda and Daisy.
Daisy…The insurance company is getmy.com…Not sure what PM’ing meant as I am really pants at this computer thing!!!
Lisa…glad to hear you are feeling abit better now…
Went to M & S for a ‘control bra’ on Friday…got the fright of my life and was measured at 38C, well the left boob was!! no wonder it was geeting a tight squeeze into my 34 ones!! LOL So even if I go up 1 more size my god thats 38DD, i’m sure the tape measure was wrong!! Made my hubby laugh though…
The bras however leave alot to be desired on the do I look sexy front!!! more like I look frumpy front…Will have to put them on and take them off in the dark cus i will get laughed at.
What a scorcher it was here today, not that i went out in it, no that pleasure is one that BC stole from me this year. I hope to take it back again next.
Bras, what fun they are now i have only one boob. I just spent an obscene amount on money on one that is lined with silk. I have to admit it is really comfortable, especially in this hot weather and with the rads. I seem to have a drawer full of bras i have bought since this. I think i am trying to find the perfect mastectomy bra, one that doesnt show when wearing clothes, accommodates the ‘dog ear’ left under my arms and looks ok. Why are all decent bras white?
How many women wear white clothes all the time? We mostly wear black and yet comfi bras are all blooming white? Also white bras go grey after a few washes. Anyway soapbox rant over.
I have spent a lot of time doing housework today and shouting at the boys to tidy their bedrooms. We had a mini barbie with a disposable one for tea. It was yummy and as usual i have eaten too much.
Barbara, pming means private messaging. I know took me a long time to get hang of the lingo. I wondered for a long time what OH meant, got it in the end.
Hi Ladies advise needed pls have just added new post but will reapeat had onc appointment for rads because of grade 3 and lymps involved ect i was told i need 3 field breast radiotherapy ??? this is alot more intense that standard radio ???
Because of this there is a grater risk of nerve and muscle damage to arm ( perminant ) and because of large area lung and ribb damage can be caused also lympa arm could become worse !!!
I left feeling very worried and wondering if the this part of the treatment was essential >>>>
also Im now very soar as was in same position for agess and think my bad arm was prob in a potion its not been in since op …
did any one else have this prob or get told same as me …
Lisa !!
Linda I had a great bra from specailist shop in Leeds in browns and creams really pretty with attachable lace top to cover more like a camy top …its available mail order will find out name and let you know its really comfortable and preety matching knickers too …
lisa
I think you had similar stats to me and to be honest i dont know the name of my radiography but i do know it is intense. They used a bolus for thirteen of them and i am on the super duper machine.
I was warned about possible lung damage and heart damage but told this was rare and i have to hope they were telling the truth. Your arm will probably get worse unless yu wear the sleeve and either have massage done or do it yourself. Also do the exercises given to you. My arm has not got worse…yet …
My part of this treatment is essential because of high level of lymph nodes involved, they are zapping neck and under arm area but also my margins were small so they are zapping breast area. I know what you mean about it being absolutely necessary but i dont want to think in a years time, i wish i had done everything. That is our problem and only we can decide.
So far, minor irritation with rads, you got through chemo, you can do this too… Obviously everyone is different but my onc said to me that for women like me who had had radical chemo, rads was a breeze.
I hope i have helped you. I will pm you my phone number if you want to talk. Linda
All ok with me, zapping no 7 today and so far so good. Not even a hint of pink. I am sure at some point thought they will turn into ‘Pinky & Perky!’ The journey is the worst bit for me, but I have been lucky enough to have a different buddy take me everyday, so fresh chit chat on a daily basis has been good.
Saw Prof on Monday, and glad to say I don’t need to go back there to see him until Feb next year, that cheered me up.
Bone density scan has come through for the last day of RADS, fingers x that will be my last hospital visit for sometime.
All well on Tamoxifen and Zoladex, but again, it’s early days, so I may have nasties about to bite me on the bum very soon!
Hair is growing very quickly, a mixture of brown and errrr…blonde…ok…grey! Just wish my head would stop itching, if I had hair, I would have convinced myself I had nits.
Wishing you all well and I hope Lisa you are on the up at last.
GRRRRRR just typed a longish message and guess what, lost it.
Oh well what can you do… I put a 8-10 shampoos dye on my half inch of hair today and i now have grey, brown and orangey blonde hair so still cant quite go nude head. I have bought a darker colour to try next time.
Glad to hear your rads are ok, mine are still not too bad, just a bit sore under arm but as radiographer pointed out that is where i sweat. It is also a really dark brown under arm, looks dead. I next see my onc in October but i havent seen her since june.
Lisa, hope you are getting some rest and relaxation.
Anyway this is not as long as last one i typed but i cant remember what i put and it is late so have a good zapping.
Hi Ladies worried again did any one see in paper about the hormone drug we are givin to help with preventing further C it did not get a very good review and Im sure its the one my onc said I should go on will find article ang find out the name of it …
Had few days away but was glad to get back so to be closer to local hospital just in case how sad is that , Still having probs with face ? tooth ? sinus ? no one seems to know but just keep takin pain killers !!!
Hope you are all well
Lisa
Great to see you, hope u will get better soon and the face aches will go away. There is something on here about tamoxofen. if you go to the home page there are a few different viewpoints on it. There is the possibility of becoming tamoxofen resistant but it is not something i want to dwell on.
Basically i have looked at it all and i think it is probably the best thing we can do to keep the cancer at bay, that or the aromotase inhibitors (arimidex, femara etc). You would not be getting them though as you are probably too young (need to have hit the menopause properly or be on oestrogen blockers).
i am just taking a five minute break from cleaning out kitchen cupboards. I have no choice as we are getting a new kitchen and bloke starts work tomorrow. Just as well my nails are grotty from taxotere still as i would have a handful of broken ones.
Rads are just starting to get a wee bit sore now. It is a bit ‘ouch’ under arm but i think because u sweat a bit, the salt water aggravates it. It looks a site. I have a large brown/red patch across my chest and its almost black under my arm (I kid you not). However, i have been very good with the moisturising and its not as bad as it could have been. I have the last one on Friday, Lisa, for guidance i had 25 3field with bolus for 13. Might be similar to what you have. I have found it much much easier than taxotere if that helps you any.
Thanks so much for info , that photo of you we could be twin sisters lol …
Im making most of gap between chemo and rads done a bit of shopping today and taking friend and her family to a local nice hotel to stay over and be waited on . Its my mate whos done all my ironing helped with kids , done house work ect and no Im not sharing her !!!
Went to a funeral today a ladie I have met trough this and we spent time in hospital togther , It was extreamly touching and I was so glad I was well enough to go she was a reall inspiration to us all and never stopped smiling …
Hope rads dont get any worse for you your doing great …
One side effect I didnt get my nails are still ok …
Lisa
I went back to work today. It was an inset day so just meetings and getting stuff ready for class etc… Properly back tomorrow. My youngest has his first day at secondary (isnt that the same for yours Lisa?). He is looking forward to it, not nervous at all. Lets hope i dont do what i did on his brothers first day. I went to take a photo with my brand new expensive camera, dropped it on floor and it smashed. Fortunately the insurance coughed up for some of it so wasnt totally out of pocket. His first ever secondary photo is on my mobile…
Rads are hurting a bit, but i would expect that. I have had 23 of them. Under arm has split a bit and i have some gel the nurse gave me to put on. I am having to wear a crop top instead of a bra as it is more comfortable. (12 pound for 2 in BHS) It just about supports me. I only have two to go and then after a few days it should start going the other way and healing. All i know is it far easier than taxotere.
Anyway, hope you are getting stronger Lisa. All the best for your last few rads Daisy and hello Barbara how are you?
Linda yes Big school on Monday for my son our local primary school is a few mins walk from our house but secondary school is around a 45 min walk and its not cool for Mom to take him in car so I have to let him out into the big wide world …
Almost at the end of the treatments bet that feels good sorry youve had a few probs to the end hope its not to soar …
Enjoy the weekend Lisa
All good with me, 7 zaps left and the skin is looking fine! A bit uncomfy under my arm, but nothing to moan about.
How did the children’s first day at school go?
Linda - how were your new class?
On Oct 5th I find out if my school is making me redundant, fab eh! There are 13 of us ‘at risk’ of which 2.5 are going to be laid off. My sick pay runs out in January and I had intended going back to school in November, but if I am the chosen one, I will be off until the very last moment.
Lisa - you started RADS yet? How are you feeling now?
Daughter starts Y11 work exp tomorrow in a daycare centre, it will put her off kids for life I hope! She doesn’t want to work with kids when she leaves school, but she picked this as she thought it would be ‘easy’…ha ha …can’t wait for her to come home tomorrow. It will be ‘bloody kids’…etc…
Enjoy your weekend ladies and look after yourslves.
Well Andrew’s first day at school was eventful, he was attacked on the way home!!! Him and his friends were walking down the road when an older boy (not in a uniform) came up to them on a bike and swore at them to get out of the way. Andrew’s friend called him an idiot. The boy then chased the four of them (two boys, two girls) and caught Andrew and pushed him in the road and whacked him across the back of the head. It sounds worse than it was, he was not injured just a bit shaken up. Nothing i can do, the boy was not from the school and none of them can give a description so he will have to chalk it up to experience. All the same, hubby met him from school on Friday and we have told him to ring one of us if anything like it happens again. Andrew is very small for his age (could pass for 8 easy) and i suspect that is why the bigger boy got him. Also his little crowd are quite naive and young in their behaviour so it was a big shock for all of them.
Rotten news Daisy but they probably will have to consider you last.
On that programme Monday Monday (I know its a drama but they have to have their facts correct) A woman said she could not be fired whilst she was undergoing active hospital treatment. Would presume that applies to you. Good luck to your daughter, tee hee, kids easy, tee hee LOL.
School is fine, class are really sweet. I am now getting back to working Sundays though, have been at computer for a couple of hours and still have tonnes to do. Rads are still a bit sore, broken on neck and under arm but they will get worse before they get better and hopefully this time next week they will be lots better.
Had my mastecomy on Wednesday, was 1st down in the morning. All went well got a temporary bag inside that they will keep inflating till my RADS start end of October. They are hoping to get it full by then If I can stand the discomfort. Came out of surgery in my normal fashion, dont look like I have had anything done and it keeps we awake for the next 24 hourts after waking up. Very bruised and sore but OK…
Glad to hear everyones OK and appear to be getting back to some kind of normality…
Got a new dishwasher today, hubby says he’s got it for me but then again he has been having to do it more recently so I think he’s telling porkies!!!
Should try for more goodies, may get away with it.
Nice to see you back and glad your boobectomy was a success. I want a recon now, but i supposed i will have to wait a year till rads etc have worn off.
Neck is a bit sore now as is under arm but i have finished everything and i just have to pray that cutting it, poisoning it and burning it has done the job.
I went back to work and am absobloominglutely kacked!!! So much work in school in first few weeks. I have just done a load of marking and looked through the plans for tomorrow. I went to running club tonight. I am not really up to running more than 400 yards at a time without wheezing (I think rads caused that) but i am building my fitness up slowly. I am on a kind of a diet, we have no proper kitchen at moment as i am having a new one fitted. I am having school dinners and then sandwiches when i get home. Boys are having same.
Barbara, Are they going to burn your new boobie or are they going to avoid it? Oh and tell hubby you want a cleaner now, LOL. Thats what i want …
Just to do a catch up and make you smile I am now wearing a gum sheild they think facial pain may be due to me grinding my teeth hense the attractive gum sheild which comes with a lisp …NOt recommended lol
And just in case its some thing more serious I spent an hour in the MRI tunnel not nice , not sure who has had one but god if you were claustrophobic !!!
listened to the carpenters but didnt help defon the noise . Why does the machine make that noise …
Any way trying not to dwel on that I will stick with the tooth grinding solution .
Start Rads on Thurs
Hope every one is well , will let you know MRI results asap
Lisa x
