great news for me

great news for me i was supposed to be having chemo but yesterday i went to visit my oncologist for the first time and he decided that i’m not going to have it as i have chest problems (emphesemia) and it would be a danger of having pneumonia because of side effects i am now going to have radiotherapy to my breast and he is going to put me on the change so i am going to have radio on my ovaries and i have started tamoxifen yesterday too has anyone else had similar things happen to them

I was initially told that the most likely treatment plan for me would be surgery (WLE), chameo, rads and then herceptin/tam depending on receptors. Luckily I had no lymph nodes involved but there was an intermammory node affected … I was noted as an ‘awkward’ patient (never been straightfwd in my life so no change there - even my core biopsy came back negative) and the MDT had extensive discussion over my intermammory node … the majority decision was node negative and as such chemo was taken out of the equation. I had a hefty program of 25 rads with 4 target zones plus 4 boosters just to the tumour site - am now on tamoxifen for 5 years but my ovaries remain active so they have given it until my next appiintment (12th August) for them to de-activate or they will intervene with monthy injections.

Good luck with your rads and also with the tamoxifen - I’ve been reasonably lucky with regards to the side effects - hope you are as lucky.

thanx lilacblushes for your comment good luck to you too
