Guided ultrasound after MRI

Evening all, just had a call from the breast clinic (which no one wants to see flashing up on their phone at 5.45pm!). Had MRI Tuesday and results are back and while the other boob looks clear and everything beneath boob looks fine, they want me back for a targeted ultrasound because of having dense boobs. I’m not sure what that means and worry it’s going to increase the wait time for surgery which I am already panicking about with Christmas coming up.

anyone had any experience of this and what it means? My lump is 38mm which is pretty massive in my tiny boobs and my consultant has already said she would do a mastectomy as there is so little to work with, which I am fine with and just want to get moving - I am very impatient at the best of times!

Hi @rubytuesday sorry to hear that you are having to go through this. the waiting is the hardest part! I had a guided mri ultrasound biopsy. I had to go to Addenbrokes for it as they couldnt do it locally. I had an area that they hadnt been able to biopsy under a normal ultrasound and the aim was to find out if I could have lumpectomy or mastectomy. I was given the choice to pick mastectomy or go for the appt. As I was keen to save some of my breast and as the other area was grade 1, I was assured it was okay to wait and have the test. (I had 4 tumours and a double mastectomy) x
