well ive gone and done it now ,slipped over in my kitchen and hurt my wrist ,had to be on the bad side that is already full of fluid ,hence it was hard to tell if its a break ! what next i ask myself eh!! cant get my sleeve on as my wrist is swollen ,good job i dont have clinic for a while !
yep i cant take anything stronget then paracetamol so been in pain for a few days with wrist .have an appointment at hospice on tuesday to see lymphodemia nurse there, so hopefully she can help me re the swelling that is still prevalant in my wrist and fingers .must say i wont be skating in my kitchen again !! and ive invested in some new slippers with bottom grip.!!xx
Oh lynn sweetie, I am sorry to hear you still in a lot of pain. Tuesday is a long time to wait when your in such pain, could you not give A & E a ring and explain that its still really painful and is there anything else they could do?
wish i could jules but they are so busy and i feel like im taking up valuable time ,they are so strapped for nurses and ambulances here . i can cope with the pain ok jusst scream quietly into my pillow!!! lol but tuesday will soon come around and today the bruises are coming out but not sure wether its the lymphodemia thats making my arm swollen or the wrist anyway hers to another day .take care all .lynn xx
You are valuable too. You woudl not be wasting anyone’s time if you went in to A + E. Just think of the news reports we see where people ring in with a broken finger nail - you are so not like them, and in need of medical help to ease your suffering before Tuesday hun.
Sorry to hear about your fall,I am not sure from your post if you have actually been to A&E yet and had an x-ray.
If not please go as you will not be wasting peoples time, that is why they are there.
If you have had it x-rayed but they can’t tell if its broken due to swelling/fluid I would call and ask them if the x-rays have been reviewed by a consultant or radiologist (not just casualty doctor) as you are still in pain.
The other possibility is a scaphoid bone fracture which is difficult to detect and results in severe pain at the base of the thumb at your wrist (anatomical snuff box if you know where that is)
You need to take care of your poorly arm!
Hope it eases soon,
Love
Dot

Lynn you are NOT wasting there valuable time, please go, I hate to think of you suffering like this. That is what they are there for!
Dot, Lynn went initially to A & E the other day and has had an x ray, but I do think she should go back and get them to have another look and give her something strong for the pain!!
oh how i wish i could take strong pain killers but as im allergic to all oppiattes have to make do with ibuprofin .pain not quite so bad today ,think its because the bruises are coming out ,im seeing the lymphodemia nurse tomorrow so she will be able to advise me wether i should return to casualty or not .thanks to you all for your very kind thoughts ,im ok really i am .just daft to think i was bambi!!! lol !!
hey ive had a fabulous appointment with the lymphodemia nurse at the hospice she was on the ball and very sympathetic ,especially as i turned up at the clinic with my arm in a bandage due to the fall i had last week . now i have a vest like compression garment as my lymphodemia is in my chest wall and under arm ,its not the most fashionable thing ive ever seen and if i had a partner i think he would be sick lol !! but if it does the trick all well and good . supposed to have check ups every two weeks so another thing that made me feel better as before i hadnt seen anyone for 4 mnths ! must admit i got a little upset going into the hospice as it brought back sad memories of my sister who passed away in brighton recently .
It can’t have been easy for you, as you say, going to the hospice, so well done and I’m so glad you are now getting the treatment you have needed so desperately and for so long. Two weekly check-ups sound a bit more like it! Are you getting any MLD as well? And was your wrist actually broken?
You’re right, those compression vests aren’t elegant, but they do seem to help and to make people feel more comfortable, too.
lymph nurse reckons i could have cracked my scahpoid bone just under my thumb, but doc at hossy said he thought it was bad sprain ,but i fell straight onto my wrist and as i now weigh a bit more than i used to thanks to arimadex ! probably have as its still very painful ,but anyway hopefully im on the mend and have a new appointment in 2 weeks time for gloves . hope all is well with you and yours i do think about you and what youve been through recently . take care .
lynn xx
Glad to hear your think you are improving a bit - hope things to continue to settle down. It’s good that you can still type your news to us here - hope it isn’t too painful for you to do so.
I started to emerge from my chemo induced trance yesterday, so everything feels better - arms (I think the MLD is definitely helping - both physically and morale wise), eyes, etc. Bad news is that Taxotere No 4 is due next week!
Hope you get some good gloves - do ‘all in one sleeves’ not suit you?
Hope your wrist is feeling a bit better. The Lymph nurse seems to agree with what I said above about your scaphoid bone.A fractured scaphoid rarely shows up on an x-ray at first and only really shows up once it starts to heal.So do take it easy.
Take care,
Dot
