Hi all. I had my first chemo last Wednesday. It was E,C, chemo. I felt ok but I am a little giddy all the time. Do you think its the steroids causing this? I only got 3 days supply, but sure the effects are still with me LOL. Saturday broke my tooth grrr ! will have to phone see if I can have dental treatment now grrr!!!
This is all so new to me I feel like am in never never land.
Any advise or tips on keeping your wits girls?

I broke a tooth when i was chemo cycle 3 and was told that i could only have a temp filling and to return after treatment finished…

Oh thanks for the reply. I still haven’t phoned them yet, but at least I know what to expect now eh?.I will have to just hope no infections start up grrr !! Feel so angry this has happened now.

The chemo unit did tell me that if the dentist wanted to do any treatment at all (inc a temp filling) they would have to give you an antibiotics prescription… It might not be too bad as you are just into your first cycle - but best to check with your unit…

Hi,
I broke a tooth whilst on chemo (still am) and was able to have it pulled out by emergency dentist with them using topical anaesthetic (with permission of chemo unit) and then have a crown fitted (with permission of oncologist), but with no injections. I had to time the treatment so I was in my best week. I was lucky/him unlucky in that my dentist has close experience of cancer/chemotherapy and was very considerate and gentle in his treatment of me. It may be worth asking at your dental practice if anyone has experience of treating a patient with chemo in the past. They will also need a list of all the drugs you are currently taking, even if you only take them once or twice during a cycle.

I had my first epi on 3rd july, felt much the same as you for the first few days after…fuzzie head, felt a bit out of it and quite scattie but as soon as i finished the steroids i’ve felt completely normal again. Even the furry mouth and fatigue has gone, no nausea and weakness that i had at the beginning. I aslo had hot flushes and painful boobs…in fact it was just like being pregnant again!! Is that just me or did anyone else get similar SE’s?

im day 17 of 1st epi of e-cmf… mornings arent too good i get kinda nauseated until have something to eat like when your pregnant… about day 10 had indigestion and burning at back of throat and chest.
for the last 3 days have had painful head feels like hair getting pulled even if blows in the wind… hair now coming out… mostly from lady garden… was surprised it started to fall out there first.
generally have been feeling pretty good but had bad day 2 days ago was fine yesterday and bad day today again… think maybe i did too much yesterday cos i felt so much better and now back to bed with painkillers.
i still feel 100 times better than i was expecting to… so although its not nice its not awful either.

Lulu, i lost it from there first too! now mostly gone from legs and armpits. Head badly balding. unfortunately nails are beginning to come off too! Next chemo is number 6, although should have been last week it was cancelled because of one of my toenails hanging off and risk of infection was considered too great. Have a week of antibiotics and will try again next week!

oh snoogle your not having much luck with your teeth and nails.
fingers (or should that be toes) crossed that you get your chemo no 6 soon… is that your last one? or you another 2 after that?

Hi Lulu, Will find out Tuesday if I get no 6 this week, will start the steroids tomorrow and see what happens. Have to have ct scan after no 6 and then onc will decide if going for 2 more or not or if I am just going to have the herceptin.
By the way the nail came off today (major yuck!) so hopefully will dry out and heal over before Tuesday.
