Had one MX and due another and recon option help needed

hi sorry to be a pain but Im unclear of my options. I had a mx just over a year ago and was declined for recon due to rads. i have since been diagnosed with the BRCA1 gene which wasnt a surprise but helps family out hugely. so my predement, I live in a small town and we dont have plastic surgeons, my breast surgeon who I totally trust told me that the waiting list is about 6mths which is fine as I want enjoyment time(subject to breat mri), but he told me I could only have LD flap recon with implant, which didnt bother me too much until he said he could only do one side at a time so the process will take over a year. also that once they come back to my original mx side as I had rads to auxilla there’s a chance that my blood supply could be comprimised and it might not work.

i did ask about the diep which Ive heard has more natural results (although the after effects of the ops terrifies me) he told me it wasnt possible as I could only have one side done using my tummy but Im not sure this is right.

Sorry for waffling I have been referred to plastics in Newcastle but want to no more first - thanks for any info anyone has xx

Hi, I had a bilateral mastectomy in March last year followed by chemo and radio, I haven’t been gene tested yet but I know that my mum aunt and cousin have the gene so it’s likely I do too. I am waiting for reconstruction at the moment. I’m not very good with all the technical terminology but have been offered two options either from my abdomen or from my back with two small implants. I have an appointment tomorrow to discuss further but I’m in total dilema as to what to do. The DIEP seems a good option from what I’ve read but I don’t think that was offered to me only the TRAM flap. But I have been told I can have both sides done from the tummy or the back.Don’t know if this helps, hope so.
