Haematoma - not a return of cancer

Hello,

I just wanted to tell someone my good news. I’ve had all sorts of tests, examinations and scans since before Christmas as a lump appeared in my armpit again. I’ve just been told the results of the biopsy show it is a haematoma not a recurrence of cancer.

I was originally diagnosed 2 days before xmas 2008, had chemo, mastectomy & lymphnodes removed(june 09), 5 weeks of rads and am currently on tamoxifen and herceptin. I had cancer in my lymh node but they never found the primary tumour in my breast, so I have had worries at the back of my mind about it. I was doing quite well getting over all the treatment and was back at work when I found the lump which I thought the clinic would tell me was nothing to worry about!

But no, they were a bit concerned and I have spent another Christmas worrying and having to have scans and tests which until today were not conclusive and even showed up possible problems on my lung. To cut a long story short they did not really want to do a biopsy because of the awkward position of the lump, but had to in the end.

I feel so pleased now they have discounted cancer and have told me the lung nodules are unlikely to be anything serious, although they will give me another CT scan in a few months.

Haematomas can show up 5 or 6 months after surgery which I didn’t realise but that’s what my lump has turned out to be. They are not going to do anything with it even though it is quite large as they hope it will eventually go away of it’s accord.

Hoping more of you will have something to celebrate this week too.
