hair extensions

hair extensions Hi, has anyone had hair extensions after regrowth. Mine is about 11/2 inches long now and I hate it but not sure if extensions are feasable and also how much they cost!!
Thanks,
Helen

hELLO THERE. I think this is one of those questions to which there is no answer as everyone of us will have a different opinion.

I hated my short hair (but it was a step up from totally bald I must admit), but I honestly wouldn’t have hair extensions if I were you. Your hair now needs to be given all the help you can give it to grow back healthily and strong. I think hair extensions are not the answer. Once your hair does grow back, it suddenly seems to grow back with a vengeance. mine now grows at twice athe normal rate which is awful because I have gone blonde and the roots show the day after. So be patient. I have problem now because of the Arimidex making it fine and thin.

Hair extensions are expensive to have them done PROPERLY. To be quite honest if any hairdresser says yes she will do them for you, knowing the background, then I would personally think twice about whether she is worth her salt. But that is just my opinion.

hair extensions Hi Helen,

I was like you - glad that my hair was growing back but wanting it to hurry up. My family tell me i suit short hair but i’m not so sure. Anyway i made enquiries with one of the best hairdressers in the area and they told me your hair needs to be at least 4 inches before you could even think of hair extensions. I was gutted and have just decided to keep wearing my wig. My hair is about 2.5 inches now and a bit of a mess but i have decided to get a proper cut and colour before my holiday next month!

Good luck

Hi Helen I too hated my short hair and was positive I’d get hair extensions, but by the time it was long enough to get them put in (4 to 5 inches) I was used to it short and couldn’t face spending the money it would have cost. I got a great new hairdresser when my hair started growing back and he’s dead against extensions - apart from the cost, he said they can damage your hair and that’s the last thing I needed when it was growing back so well.

You really will get used to your short hair and it will grow quicker than you think. Getting it styled regularly really helps.

All the best,
Sue

I had hair extensions a year before I became bald and to be honest that was my thought when I realised I was going to loose my hair, the girl that did mine said my hair would have to be at least 4 inches long. But then I remembered the extensions cost over £800 and at one stage was pulling my hair out by the root!

I don’t like my short hair and everyone says I suit it, but I think I look like a boy.

Good luck in your decision.

thanks Hi and thanks for your comments. I think i realised that hair extensions would probably not be the answer. The problem is I have really enjoyed wearing a wig and was not at all devastated at losing my hair. But I find the transition back to my hair very depressing! It feels like straw, is in tight curls and grows up and out! My hairdresser had a go with it and it looked ok but too short for my liking!
I will have to take my wig off in the summer as it will be too hot with all that hair so I will just have to get my head around it!
Thanks,
Helen
