Hair growing back!

Hi
This may be just a silly litle worry that I have but my hair has started to grow back quite abit.I am having my last chemo tomorrow!
I just wondered if I am ‘lucky’ or whether the chemo isnt working, or is it working hard on others areas!
Hope you dont think im daft with this post but your mind can drive you crazy sometimes!

Hi - mine did the same thing, but then some fell out again 3 weeks after my last chemo! Only a bit though and I was never completely bald again. Chemo finished completely 4 weeks ago, and my head’s got a good covering of bum-fluff all over now!
Good luck with your last one, it’s a good feeling!

Hi

I had epi/cmf chemo 4 of each my hair started to grow back just after the chemo 4 by the time I had finished I had a good covering of hair. Hope you are well.

thats totally how i am feeling as my last chemo is tomorrow too and i have not gone completeley bald still, had a sprinkling of hair throughout, and has definitely grown this cycle and no fallen out at all. On cycle 1 of tax it grew too but a small amount came out just befoire second tax. It came out quite a lot after frst fec, despite cold cap, and then gradually over the next two fec sessions.

My hair has always grown really fast and though it isnt thick, i had lots and lots of it. Perhaps thats it?

But am also worried about it meaning the tax isnt working, think we should both ask our oncs tomorrow and compare advice! Yet another mad question for my list!

Hi tors,

I have now had 5 out of 6 of my FEC chemo’s and I have not lost all my hair. Most of it went after the first treatment but I have kept a “fluff” for want of a better word, covering over most of my head. I have not used the cold cap.

I also was concerned that it meant the chemo wasn’t working and have kept asking why I haven’t lost all my hair. I have been told that some ladies just have strong hair follicles and that some hair is firmly rooted. As for the chemo working they just said look at my blood counts - my neutrophils have been borderline for every treatment I have had and I had to have my second one delayed! My body is definitely getting hammered by the chemotherapy.

I know what you mean about “mad” questions - I have gone to every appointment with a list and yes I have asked why all my hair hasn’t fallen out!

With only 1 chemo to go I am starting to look forward to it growing again.

Let me know what your onc says.

Sil

your not being silly im having my last chemo next week had 4 AC and 4 TAX my hair is about quarter inch long been my onc 2day chemo has done its job now my tumor was 90mm on my last screening a month ago it was 20mm now struggling to find it gud job its got a tracker in it

Thanks everyone for your posts. Glad to hear there are others with the same thoughts! Will try to convince myself that I am lucky to have such strong hair follicles.
Thanks again x

Hiya, had my last of the six chemos today, yeah! I asked my onc re hair. He said he sees lots of ladies with my lenght hair and isn’t remotely worried about it meaning Chemo hasn’t worked. He said often younger womens hair grows more virulently and strongly and therefore hair is retained. Can grow thru Chemo and therefore usually grows back more strongly and more quickly after. So here’s to full coverage and ditching wigs bt Christmas! Hope your last Chemo went well tedoris. Ketp meaning to ask where u got your user name from?

Thanks for asking Vickie. I think are minds work overtime sometimes and find it hard to cope with the positives after so many negatives!
‘All I want for Christmas is a head of hair’.
Username is dogs names TED and DORIS! Didnt want anyone to know me at first on forum but now more than happy to talk about BC. Funny how things change on this journey!
Hope your ok after LAST ONE yippee! We just have to get through this week!
Take care

Hi Tedoris et al
Had my chemo in Jan Feb, mar (3 FEC + 3 TAX) and also had the same worries about hair not falling out but in fact started to grow during the Tax treatment. Am relieved to hear all your responses as I just never got round to asking about hair to Onc, and also thought that I was not getting the ‘full whack’! . Am post radio by 2 months and have about an inch for the most part and a bit shorter at other areas. But it is thick growing , so it is not just the young who can grow thickly and strongly, for anyone else who is wondering, as I am 63.
Good luck with your treatment, seems eons ago now but only a year since it all started with the mammo!
Good health to you all XXXXX

Hi Ladies,
Has anyone tried products by Nioxin? my bcn recommended the massage product. She said a couple of ladies had suggested it to her.

Also for any ladies that has hair but very thin, my wig lady has a very good spray, it is the colour of you hair and basically covers the bald spots! l know a lady that uses it and it gives very good results. it is used very lightly.
Sorry can’t think of the name of it at the moment, it anyone is interested l will contact my wig lady.

I’ve started my 3xTax yesterday (using cold cap, and lucky to have a fair bit of fringe and back of hair, but ginormous bald patch on top!). Nurse told me that some women lose hair on Tax, but a fair few find it growing back. She made a big point of telling me not to be paranoid if that happened, so I’m guessing it’s common and means not a lot. I know I will if it happens to me though!

Sandra that spray sounds good for me. If you get a chance to ask, would love to know the name.

Hi Julie, just phoned the wig lady, the website is maneuk.com
Hope you feel ok after your first tax, just got back from having mine, early days, but feeling ok
Love

Thanks Sandra, very efficient and I’ll definitely investigate. Hope you’re good tonight and into tomorrow. I’m a bit achey after first injection, but still no nausea, so I’m seeing that as a definite plus! See you on the June thread xj

What about eyebrows though? I’ve just finished e-cmf and hair has grown back on the bald patches (ill fitting cold cap), straight after the epirubicin finished. But eyebrows started to grow too, but now have stopped and are very easy to pull out. I hate the eyebrowless chemo look!

Hi, my hair has grown a little. I have not completely lost my eyebrows or lashes. I asked my Mc millan nurse if I was likely to lose them altogether, she thinks not, so thats good. I give my head a good massage every night with grapeseed carrier oil. that was a tip from the therapist at the hospice.
