Hi Suzyhunt,
last year i also was on 12 weeks of Paclitaxel ( with carboplatin every 3 weeks )
I didnt cold cap, my chemo dr said not to as i suffer from migraines and it would have made them worse.
i did lose my hair about 4 weeks in which i was expecting. It came out in clumps leaving my usual hair ( a bob cut ) kinda inbetween , so i cut this to about an inch and then buzz cut it on a number 3.
now 8 mohths post chemo and my hair is growing back stronger and thicker and a different colour !!! .
hope this answers your question. If i can answer any questions just ask.
good luck. Mini mad xx
Hi Suzy
That sounds like an impressive start! I started with 3 x EC treatments before 9 paclitaxels so I’d begun to lose hair in the first 9 weeks. I had a no 6 buzzcut. My oncologist said I’d lose all my hair by week 2 of paclitaxel but it held out to the end. It was thinner but I was ok going around in a beanie (it was winter), removing it indoors. I did find I got pitying looks occasionally but stuff that. I bought a wig early on - actually a rather good one - but only wore it about 5 times. My hair only fell out once my new hair started to grow and that was thick and curly like a cockerpoo! I loved it. It’s 12 months since I finished chemo and I’m losing the last of my chemocurls but my hair is as thick as before.
You will probably lose all your other hair except the one you really really want to be free of. Leg hair is like the cockroach - indestructible! Nose hair, pubic hair, facial hair, lashes, eyebrows (you may hold onto the odd lash/hair)…usually all vanish. Be ready for a damp nose and peeing in several directions at once. Chemo is fun!
Good luck xx
Good evening, juat wondering how your treatment went?
