Any advice / tips on hair growing back? I read somewhere that once you got the light fluff, some people shave that all off to encourage the new growth… can’t remember where I read that! I’m a bit alarmed that what little hair there is, is very grey… I did used to colour it to cover the grey, but am sure it wasn’t that much!! I’m fine with wearing wigs, but it would be a shock to everyone, if when I finally reveal all, that I’ve gone from a brunette to a grey-head overnight!!
I finished the intravenous chemo 6 weeks ago, and the tablets I’m now on (Xeloda) doesn’t have hair loss as a side-effect, so theoretically it should start coming back. Anything I can do to help it on it’s way?.. Other than cross my fingers
Oh great thread!!! early for me to think of regrowth … I am at the 3rd doxorubicin, 4th to come, plus 4 taxol… but I would really like to see if there are… vitamins, supplements, massages, whatever!!! to speed re-growth!
just a note to ressure you. my hair fell out completely, which i found much better than having a few little thin bits hanging about. it then grew back and was, it seemed more or less all grey! i had very dark hair with only one or two strands of grey prior to treatment.
now the good bit, as it grew longer it reverted back to lovely dark shiney healthy hair, probably better than that i had started with.so, hang on in there and try not to panic.
Mine’s coming in thick and fast now, but at the beginning it was very thin baby fluff. My hairdresser ran clippers over it so that any sprouty bits were trimmed back and this helped it to look more full. Would suggest this crew cut approach rather than a full shave as scalp can be tender. I’m loving having hair again and hope you do too. it is annoying about the grey, but it’s still better than wigs.
