I had bilateral masectomies 15 months ago - left breast had invasive ductal cancer and DCIS and right breast was prophylactic. A couple of weeks ago I found two hard pea sized lumps at the edge of my Left reconstructed breast (Strattice matrix and silicone). Ultrasound radiographer would not biopsy as they are are positioned on the implant. I also have some small hard lumps in Prophylactic reconstructed breast. The radiographer said the lumps should be removed under anaesthetic or that I should have an MRI but she did not know what was causing the lumps. My surgeon has ordered an MRI. I am so worried. Has anyone else found pea sized lumps following Strattice matrix reconstruction I am so hoping that the lumps have something to do with the reconstruction. Please let me know if you have had anything similar after this type of reconstruction.
I too had a mastectomy with reconstruction and had my five year check up four weeks ago and the consultant was going to sign me off but found some small lumps. I had an ultrasound and the consultant radiographer managed to do some biopsies without damaging my implant. I am going for the results tomorrow and am worried what they will say. Hope your MRI will be ok. Take care.
