Has anybody had problems skin and scar after Rads?

I finished my rads in March and had rash and soreness after treatment, but just the other day I have managed to make my chest wall and scar so sore. I was throwing a ball for my pooch and feel I have taken steps back in my recovery. I think its my bra that has rubbed the skin and caused my pain. Has anybody else had a similar prob with the skin after rads?.

Abby I finished my rads in march also and when at hospital last month told the breast care sister who examined me that I was having "jaggy"pain in my breast and scar was quite sore to touch or sometimes lie over on it in bed and she said it was everything going back in place.But the last week I have been having pains in my ribs and dont know if it is the rads that have caused it and breast is quite tender.If it does not improve I will ring her next week and tell her my concerns.Hope you dont have to much more discomfort if so get onto your BC nurse and let her know.Good Luck Joyce.xx

i had rads 3 years ago and still get pains under my scar… the rads keep shrinking your tissue for upto a year after treatment so can continue to feel tight so if you do anything too strenous you can get a pulling sensation… it can also be linked to cording which is tightness in the veins running from the brest down your arm… some people are more prone to it (like me) and when i stretched i would have a pulling sensation through boob, auxilla, through inside of elbow, down wrist and right down to my middle finger.

can remember specific problem with the skin although wore a bikine for a the last few weeks and for a few weeks after wards as my bras were too uncomfy…could they perhaps be rubbing on you.

you havent changed soaps, washing powder etc have you? make sure you use something like simple body wash, try to prevent shampoo and conditioner running down that part of skin, pat dry… try also changing to non bio soap which might improve it too.

would also recommend speaking to bcn.

Just had an Idea about soreness of chest after rads and put some of the Flamazine cream on the the breast care nurse gave me and it feels a lot better…Hugs Abby.
