Hi there
my husband’s chiropractor has given us some info about coenzime Q10, which is apparently a powerful antioxidant and has been used with encouraging results in some trials on women recovering from BC. Has anybody heard of it/taking it? I am very curious to find out.
I am pasting the link from the US National cancer institute but there is a lot of interesting articles on the web if you google the word:

Looking forward to your opinions…
Me? I am thinking: with all the chemicals which will flow freely in my body once I start chemo (in Sept.) one pill more won’t upset the balance. In fact it might help to recover from it.
Over to you ladies…

Hi Lulu - I’m sure you’ll get some responses from ladies who are a lot more up on their vitamins and nutrients than i am - but wanted to let you know i do take co enzyme Q10 and have done since diagnosis in January. i take 90mg per day (ie 3tabs) Lots of the studies suggest you need to take a much higher dosage than 90mg - the reason i don’t is purely based on cost. I look forward to reading other responses you get. Good Luck

Lulu - I think you should check with your oncologist because I understood that powerful antioxidants may inhibit the chemo drugs.

Lulu - as Ann says worth checking - i did and onc said it was ok ,no contra indications.

Hi there, Im also a big fan of Q10,been taking them since finishing rads last summer, they have most certainly helped me,mentally and slightly more energy. Cost wise,Tesco do 2 for price of 3,30mg so I also take 3 a day, watch for them being on offer at Holland & Barrets, they sometimes have a higher strength one that you only need 1 of. I also take Selenium, theyre from H.& B.,pretty cheap and they also come out well in trials on B.C. women. Combined with my glucosamine,
cod-liver oil, multivitamin,Tamoxifen and Pregabalin, its like "shake, rattle & roll" while Im doing my housework but I feel absolutely great, give it a whirl. Good luck, Mags x
LOL! Not sure if they are working that well…if you think 2 for the price of 3 is a bargain!
Sorry ,couldn’t resist!

Hi Dotchas
how it made me laugh!Which is a good thing generally speaking but hurts like hell when recovering from reconstruction…
Still we can all do with some light relief!
Take care

Hi
I have been taking q10 since chemo last year, Read a lot of constructive information about it on internet and decided to give it a whirl. I think it gives me more energy than I would otherwise have. I take 120mg tablets. I usually watch h and b for special offers, they sometimes do a bogof or 3 for the price of 2 offer. I then buy in bulk. I also take vit d3 and glucosamine, oh and tamoxofen of course.
