Has anybody opted out of hormonal therapy?

Hi Nikiya,

I have been on Letrozole for nearly 3 years and no problems with bone density. Last scan showed no change from when I started. And, no side effects either. Lucky, maybe.

Hi Nikiya
I was 44 nearly 45 when i found my lump and had it removed 5 years ago next month.Because my lump was low down and near my breast bone had no choice but to have breast removed. my cancer was estogen feed so when i had my womb removed i tool advice from the breast nurse and the oncl. He basical sat on the feance and said it was upto me and the breast nurse said that i was really young to put myself into an early menopause and i was in the GOOG GROUP for recover for cancer. I decided to keep my ovaries. (breast removed oct following june womb removed foolwing summer lump in mu neck in the lym gland).
Then treament for that lump and then i had my ovaries zaped. I wish i had gone with my gut feeling when i had my womb reoved and had my ovaries taken away as well. HAVING SAID THAT there is noone i will ever know whether that would have stopped the cancer coming back.
I was the 1 in however many that was really unluckly…my cancer also crossed over to the other side of the body. ( Left breast, lump in the neck right side). My husband jokes and said because it was free i went back for more!!!
My sister in law has jad womb cancer and is lucky to be here but she could not bear the menopause so she is taking HRT. If i was her i wouldn’t but it is her choice.
I now have thinning of the bones osteopenia but take regualr excerice with my dog and take and calium and a good diet ot too much wine.I had decided to stop worrying about it all and take everything as it comes. I personal would never take HRT the risk for me are way too high. I think it is all down to personal choice.
I hope this helps and if you want to chat privately…no probs.

Hi Lupin

Just out of interest… you say you were grade 1 and had good chances… were any of your lymph glands affected when you had them removed the first time around?

HI Heidi35
No that is why it was such a shock when it came back. To be honest i am lucky i found the lump in my neck when it was really small. I had wristed my neck and happen to find it then just mentioned it in passing at a check up. To be honest i nearly said nothing.
