Hi there I have lived with breast cancer for 12 years now. The original treatment was the standard 6 cycles chemotherapy, mastectomy and radiotherapy followed by 5 years of tamoxifen. The cancer came back in my lung but was well controlled with Femara and Zoladex until this June. It has now migrated to my omentum (the fatty lining round the intestine). From looking around on the internet this appears to be an unusual presentation of the disease. The treatment I was started on was 18 weeks of taxol but after a scan at 9 weeks the tumour seemed to have got slightly worse and my oncologist decided there was no point in continuing. I was then put on capecitabine tablets but my system just could not tolerate them so I am now off them and awaiting an appointment with my doctor next week. I am feeling frustrated not least because as long as my pain is under control I can go about my daily life. It was only the side effects of the chemotherapy which slowed me down. I have been off work since the beginning of June which has added to my frustration-at least that would keep my mind off all of this. I have had a look online but don’t see much else that can be used to treat my condition. I am at the stage now where, because I feel basically well, of going back to work and letting nature take its course. I just can’t see what more the medical profession can do for me. Has anyone else had a similar experience?
