Has anyone had to pay for prescriptions as part of chemotherapy?

Thanks Ladies

You know I am pretty disgusted and the Bc nurses all say how bad it is that we have to pay but it certainly seems down to where we live!!

Even if I didn’t go on this trial I would still have to pay so I don’t win either way.!! I also had to pay £57.00 towards a wig voucher upto the value of £110.

In many ways I want to fight this not just for me but for others who are faced with this but I am trying to chill a bit and not stress too much in life nowadays.

I will write to my local MP and see what response I get and I reckon the PCT can get a letter from me too.

I will see how it goes…thanks ladies all very informative…

Hi All,
I found at my trust in london if the prescription was written by dr in hospital and presented to pharmacy whilst I m having chemo I dont have to pay for, otherwise everything prescribed by my gp has to be paid for.

Hi all I would just like to say to all those who are paying it has made my blood boil thinking that some people have to pay it so bad. I finished all my treatment last July and I didnt pay a penny for anything. I even went to a top of the range wig specialist in Edinburgh and had a very expensive Raqual Welch wig which I didnt pay for either. When I was on chemo they even gave me a new digital thermometer to take my temperature with free and any drugs I needed.I was on incapacity and they sent me a form called HC2 and that was to give any prescriptions I needed free for 12 months. It was up last month so now I just have to pay every month for my Arimadex but I certainly dont mind that as I am now back at work full time. I do believe its post code lottery which isnt fair as breast cancer causes so much hardship to some people. God you have enough to worry about being ill without the problem of paying for treatment which some people cannot afford.O dont get me started My next door neighbour is an alcoholic and gets all his medication free he even gets a very large bottle of Gaviscon as the alcohol gives him heartburn and thats not cheap When I was in the chemist last week picking up mt Arimadex and paying for them there was a young lady and boy in front of me they were taken to the side given a cupful of something each and then just walked out. I asked the lady in chemist what they were having (thought I was missing out on something LOL) ans she told me they were having there daily dose of methodone) I did start my ranting and raving again I have worked all my life and they just walk away scot free paying nothing great ehh Anyway I think I have moaned enough for today O by the way I live in Scotland Take Care Linda xxxxxxxxx
