Have had first FEC

Have had first FEC

Have had first FEC Hi all,

Had first FEC 3 days ago and am now taking the dex and mets. Feel okay, just waves of tiredness now and then and funny taste in mouth. Nurses were fantastic to say the least, it was nothing like I was expecting. Just wondering how long I’m gonna feel okay though - I was even dancing round living room with my teen yesterday!!! Thought I might pay for that today, but so far so good.

Great news! Let’s hope it stays like this! Hi Morgaina

You may be one of the lucky ones that sails through chemo! I had AC first and I had hardly any side effects on that and carried on as normal (well had given up work, so finally got to be a ‘lady that lunches and shops’ ) Changed to Taxotere and having more side effects but they’re still manageable.

One thing I have found out is that everybody responds differently and how they respond on one chemo or even cycle can vary .

I have found chemo to be not as bad as I had expected so I’ll keep my fingers crossed that you are also one of the lucky ones!

Take care

That’s good to hear. I had FEC, and finished at the beginning of May. I had no real side effects, apart from the ones that you have stated (and hair loss) although never a complete baldie.

Hop it all goes well for you

Hey there

you keep danciog but make sure you get lots of rest too…its different for everyone as the ladies say but keeping your body in as best shape as you can during it with lots of sleep is part of the battle!

Keep your head up as the treatment goes on. i finished my FEC 18 months ago it got harder but then got better again…treatment wise.

All the best lynnc

GOOD FOR YOU but make sure you get plenty of rest too.

I’m 10 days after my first FEC. Apart from a bit of a sore mouth I feel fine and a bit of a fraud. However, my onc did warn me that the first cycle is not necessarily indicative of how the rest will be.

Good luck and love to everyone in the same situation

I managed really well on FEC. On cycles 1,2 and 4 I only had a couple of days severe fatigue, then I was up and about again. With the 3rd cyscle I was conked out for about 10 days, but I was warned that sometimes happens with No3, also it was just after Christmas. At least I was able to get on with my life, which is more than I can do on Taxotere at the moment!

week after FEC and getting side effects Hi all,

Thought maybe I might have been lucky and get nothing - not so. Had heartburn and a wrenching feeling in my throat which made it difficult to swallow. Today, I have got up and have a muzzy head and feel quite weak - it’s an effort to watch tv.

On a lighter note, I got my children to shave my head as it was falling out in my food (yuck) - they had some fun doing this, and we all, strangely enough had a bit of a laugh (the mohican went down well).

Gonna sit and watch rain today, there’s something soothing about watching rain - may play monopoly later if i can save up my energy for it.

Worrying about this immunity thing. Today, is the day my blood count starts to drop, so gonna take my temperature regularly to be on safe side.

Did anyone do anything nice on the bank holiday weekend?

Similar situation Hi Morgaina - I had my first FEC on 18th May and it is interesting to compare notes - the heartburn I can relate to and the GP said it is fine to take Gaviscon - I drank Gaviscon through both my pregnancies when I was prone to severe heartburn. So far I have not lost any hair but am a bit surprised by this - hope the chemo is doing its job - I am almost wishing it to come out now. I was wiped out for five days after chemo and then really bounced back with the biggest appetite ever - was hoping to lose a few pounds during the regime and without a doubt, I will be one of those who gain - when I really didn’t need to.

Am due for next session on 8th June and assume you are 12th June -

Bank Holiday was a complete washout - but kids are on a football course this week, so my feet are up - may even venture to the wig shop to collect that today. Had some stuff from ebay today - headband, bandana and visa (which I think will look good on the wig and also help me to feel secure that the wig wont come off).

I am joining a breast cancer support group tonight and hoping to go to Headstrong in Purley on Friday.

It is good to read your posts as I had no idea about when blood count drops etc.

Keep posting and comparing.

LOL
